ok I'll bite, its seeing the beauty in everyday life, seeing the fun in the mundane,looking at things you see all the time and seeing a newness, its an extraordinary ordinary life (did I actually just work that into a sentence :0)

What drew me to this image is the right side where it appears there are little jewels embedded in the green sand. As soon as I saw those little shell like jewels I was immeadiately transported back to St George Island and my walks on the beach in August. This is the beach for me, full of wonder and mystery, and peace backlit by joy. :-)

i guess it has to do with transformation, perhaps. having new eyes, or seeing with new eyes seems to indicate in some way, the shedding of older pre-conceived notions, thought forms, belief systems that no longer serve us...and i suppose the voyage of discovery seems to point more to an inner discovery, discovery of the self, which Proust says is not about seeing things external to oneself, but rather from within, perhaps with a newly transformed perception.
or, for all we know, it was just a good pickup line...heck, maybe he just wanted to say something impressive to some chick in a bar....(in which case, he would have had me at hello...) but i digress....

There are so many dimensions to this, so many layers that it's hard to know where to begin. True to your words (the quote) you have taken us on a journey here, or at least given us the opportunity to go on one should we choose to.

If one of my images or quotes can take someone below the normal surface chatter of the ever changing sea of our waking lives to a much deeper and serene place below the waves and storms, then that makes me very happy. As Socrates said: "The unexamined life is not worth living."
Can you see with new eyes? Sounds simple (and that's the danger), but only one out of ten thousand, perhaps, can do it. One day, I would like to be counted as that one. Not there yet, but each day I try to take just one more step a little closer. :-)

i have this strange feeling that "seeing with new eyes" is not something one may place on their shopping list or wish list. i believe it is something that evolves over time without any planning or thought in that direction, simply from seeing with new eyes...
this lusting after spiritual ideals even tho we all seem to want it, reminds me of a kind of spiritual materialism, and the very wanting of it makes it move that much further away from our grasp. so maybe we need to unclench our fists and just let them be... it really is that simple.
