Desires achieved increase thirst like salt water.

For those that don't read Russian, the title is "Society Girl." I used Russian to highlight the winter headwear this young lady is wearing and I envision her walking down the streets of Moscow.

I'm more amazed each time I come here, in total awe of your work.

Karen, those are wonderful words for me to hear. Thank you so much for the kindness in your heart. :-)

Very, very nice.
She could also be spinning in an elaborate evening gown in some gold and mirrored ballroom.

first off, pic is very nice

but the quote is something else...and since you know I stink at trying to describe anything emotionally (if I am trying to do it seriously), I'm not even going to try. So no flippant comments, no humor, my off center day not withstanding, that quote is just somthing that resonates. You have had some great quotes but this one just touches on something.

Forgot to say 'good morning', strange since its been dark here for hours already. Hope you are having a lovely day thus far. :-)

Interesting that you should match that quote with your Society Girl... Don't know if you are referring to the girl, the desire of another for the girl, or just generally speaking. I can imagine the quote meaning something like after a rich man gains his riches, he is never satisfied with the status quo - he wants more. Anyway, nice rendition - I like the "hat".

Sunshine, it's been a good day. Got some resolution in a satisfactory way on some business issues, so that's always a good thing. Everyone is happy again, at least for another hour or so. :-)

Trace, I find the more I desire, the more it just creates more desire in a never ending upward spiril that can never be quenched.

The best single quote from an interview I ever read on this question was when Henry Ford was asked if after making his first Billion if that was enough, and (according to the story) answered, "no, I just need a little bit more."

I don't know if that story is true, but I think it illustrates desire begeting more desire, and it's endless.

I could go on for days on this subject because so many in our country misunderstand where I'm coming from. Conversation for another day.

Terry, excellent commentary. The girl is just a metaphor for desire. I love the way you flesh the image out and all those are wonderful ways of seeing the image.

Glad to hear it, Sweetie, you deserve a some good fortune.

Arnold Schwarzneggar on Oprah years ago, when asked if money made him happy said, he had been just as happy when he had 48 million as he was now that he had 50 million :-)

Trée said...

A, I hadn't heard that quote from Arnold, but that's funny. And I can see him saying it with a smile on his face.

Exactly! - was said with wonderful jest, a cheeky grin and twinkle in his eye.

The colors in here blog are awesome! I love this quote about desires. The Dali Lama says that our desires is what causes much suffering. Great quote! :)

:-) Just went to see Clive, he's had some interesting comments on his post today LOL!!!
I'm not coming back here until later ;-)

Trée said...

Thanks Kathy. So good to see you drop by. And who doesn't love the Dali Lama. Is there a more beloved spirit on the earth alive today? And he writes with such clarity and wisdom. I buy almost everything with his name on it.

A, I like to "take the piss out of" Clive to use a british saying. He is a wonderful writer and I enjoy the heck out of his writings. I love his ability to accept my humor and my poking a little fun at his seriousness at times. Do you think I gave him some good advice? LMAO

Conversation for another day

I look forward to it :0)

I didn't think so much along the lines of material things, though in today's culture it is certainly true, the more people, have the more people seem to want and even feel entitled too. It just hit me more basic than that. (shrug) I just can't really explain it.So I'll be quiet now and just golook at the pretty picture :0)

oh and on a much less serious note :0) Trée, I loved your comment on Holly's blog about the cellophane ROFL

I have really got to stop reading this stuff during class :0)

Was that a water warning moment? ;-)

oh big time LOL

I so was not prepared for that visual :0)

I almost wrote a comment about being able to vouch for the validity of your advice...it was great advice, in fact, I'm going to start right now over at my place! Never noticed the disproportion before, but see it now :-). Love it - Clever man!

Wanna get some practice in? lol

Trée said...

Oh, I'm a big believer in practice makes perfect. :-)

If you look closely, she's wearing rather large sunglasses and has an open-mouthed smile of surprise. She's quite the happy thing. :-)

omgg words of wisdom...so true! Buddha always said that the root of misery is the desire...

Keshi.

Trée said...

Keshi, I like the new avvy. Very pretty--your flower icon that is, not to mention your beautiful attitude. Great post today. :-)

Yes, yes. We always want more. It's so difficult to say, "I am content" and STILL be motivted.

Garnet, your comment reminds me of my favorite Kipling poem "IF"

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream-and not make dreams your master;
If you can think-and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings-nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And-which is more-you'll be a Man, my son!
