Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

The fabric landscape of a broken life... my thoughts before reading your quote as I gazed at your art. Wow. You nailed it.

Terry, when I first started working with this image, Plato's cave immeadiately came to mind, so I knew I wanted to include a touch of Plato somehow. I too saw the "tear" in the fabric and thought of taking that angle, of a gap between reality and perception, of the difference between two camps. But at the end of the day, I thought the shadows on the cave represented the many battles, real and metaphorically, we all fight both within and without, every day. Plus, it follows one of my favorite platitudes, namely, it's better to be kind than to be right. :-)

I still like the play off of the allegory of the cave, and the illusions we sleep walk through life with as our constant companions. If only they would introduce themselves--lol.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful and sincere comments again. I take great pleasure in you sharing your thoughts Terry. Peace.

The title is Greek for "The Cave."

Tree, if only more folks subscribed to your way of thinking... unfortunately the "I'm right, you're wrong" battle rages on more often than not.

How do you know so many languages? Are you French?

Terry, I know French and German, and studied Latin. For the rest, I lean heavily on translation software. Just my way of dressing the images up while having a little fun with myself. Sometimes I feel the image demands to be titled in a language that suits it. Russian for my Russian society girl; Greek for Plato; French for, well because French is such a beautiful language; German when I feel the image demands something strong and in your face; etc.

My own heritage is split between Italian, French and English. Just a euro mutt I suppose. :-)

Es würde kühl sein, in einer anderen Sprache fließend zu sprechen. Ich wünsche, daß ich stark - LOL studiert hatte

PS - To be a mutt is to own the world.

Ich kann die Sprachen viel besser lesen, als ich sie sprechen kann. Meine graduierten Studien verlangten mich kennen zwei Sprachen. Aber ich verstehe, wie Sie fühlen.

A, :-)

Truly, I only speak a little German, a smattering of Sqhip (Albanian) and a teensy bit of Spanish. I'm learning to speak a bit of Icelandic - it's amazing what you can do when properly motivated!:-)

Icelandic, now there is a language I would like to hear. I wonder what universities offer language studies in Icelandic. :-)

aww this just touched me deeply...

the fact that most ppl dun realise that the other is also fighting a hard battle is a sad thing...everyone thinks that there is no harder battle than their's...

Keshi.

Keshi, we are all peas in the same pod. We all hurt and all want and need love. Why so many find it so difficult to give love is beyond me. Hugs and kisses my friend. :-)

A wonderful quote, so timely for today's world.

I guess those old guys did know a thing or two--lol. Spoken like a true history major. History is dead. Long live history. :-)

Good to see you again stargazer.

We all have tears and tears, as your art shows. (two different words spelled the same) It's so easy to fall into judging others without knowing their burdens.

Well said Garnet. I envy your ability with words, you truly have a gift my friend.

I keep coming back to this one. I am struggling for the words that draw me to it.
It is electricity - slowly sliding about. Controlled and yet dangerous. Beautiful and deadly.
But I look again and it is rice paper and zen. It is bamboo and silk.

This one....I cannot truly describe and yet I cannot look away.

A-f**king-mazing! ;)

Aggie, when my wife saw this one the first thing she saw was Japanese rice paper.

I saw the ancient drawings one might find in an old cave. I also saw the tear in the fabric of a life. Many things here and this one is currently serving as my desktop wallpaper, which means I like it alot too. Not exactly your run of the mill fractal image. :-)
