Small Towns (update)
We got the vet bill today for Mario's last three weeks. His twice a day visits amounted to $2097. Our vet discounted $1200 off that price, so we owe $897. I have to believe this was his cost. Where else does this happen. Small towns.

wow thats a heck of a vet bill...and you are right it wouldn't happen many places
Trace, we did not ask for a discounted bill nor would we have done so. It was our choice to keep him alive for those last three weeks knowing he was terminal. I would have gladly paid the 2k for the extra three weeks we had with Mario.
As Mario was getting his daily treatments we never asked how much all this was costing us. I was prepared to pay any price to do everything possible in the hope for a miracle. The miracle we got was three weeks longer than the vet thought he would live. Would I do it again. In a heartbeat.
What a nice gesture at your time of sorrow. My vet in California had no such kindnesses when I lost my Banjo to stomach cancer. Hmmm - lots to be said for small towns, isn't there?

I understand that completely, I did at home fluids with a cat I had had since childhood. The money was never an issue.
Wow, we already knew these were amazing people, doubly convincing now. Rare breed.

and that is priceless
My thoughts exactly.
My God! That's amazing. I have NEVER come across any vet who would EVER do that.
Kudos to your vet!
