without fanfare

How the flower does it
I don't know

Blooms without fanfare

whether anyone looks
or speaks
or comments
or even
notices

a higher life form
perhaps

This is wonderful clever idea. And there is a lesson in the poem many of us can learn from.

I talk about this subject often with my friends. We talk about how we absorb other's opinions and judgments and act differently. And ho we would not like to do that.

The flower is such a great symbol.

morrow, thanks for the kind words. This poem originally had one more verse, but discretion (foul language) brought out the editor in me. In short, it expressed my desire to be more like the flower. :-)

Because real beauty. The beauty of the Soul does not need such. For she is beautiful whatever, whenever; however.
Lovely words written, you.

Sandra, you were here at just the perfect moment to see full bloom. So glad you were able to see them and know where the inspiration for the poem and a couple others came from.

Thank You for visiting my blog and commenting on Fannie Nampeyo. You're right that it's amazing to produce the quality of work shown there, I can only imagine the skill and surity of hand need to make it happen. Feel free to stop by anytime.

Tales, I like what you are doing and I like being exposed to art that has not been on my horizon. I plan on watching for updates. :-)
