637. Through the Waterfall

Em: What is that?

Trev: Another poem.

Em: Can I see it?

Trev: No.

Em: Oh, come on, let me see it.

Trev: I said no.

Em: I'll take it from you.

Trev: (gives her a look)

Em: You know I can.

Trev: Alright.

Within the Sturm und Drang of battle
I stood in bristling silver
friend and foe as walls
within a small village

I swung my instrument
or so I thought
for where one fell
two or more ought

In blur and swoosh, my head
I lost, while planted;
the cut was clean, merciful
of this I was granted

An arc of one motion
swing and fall
as head to ground
midnight quiet

As space expanded
a solitary voice
spoke in fear not clothed
a naked thought

A walking through the waterfall
clean and pure and bright
of all that could have been
had but I, embraced the light

Trev: I know it seems, well, less than romantic.

Em: Really?

Trev: Look, here is all you need to know. You are the light.

Em: (smiles)

Trev: Now come give me the affirmation found only in the dark.

Annie, I wouldn't say no. :-D

Thank you for the very kind words my succulent friend. I'll pour some whiskey in two glasses. Meet me in the shower and we'll celebrate all things wet. :-D

Really nice fractal Trée. I love the 'clocks'. And I do enjoy your style of poetry.

Thanks Deb. I really have no idea what the heck I'm doing with poetry other than I enjoy it. I'll be in Tucson all next week with our National Meeting. Here is hoping we both have wonderful weather. :-D

Victoria, your blog helps. I find so much peace and comfort seeing the love between you and the girls. All the best to you and yours in '09. :-)

Prose or poem, when you write it is poetry, and poetry unlike other types of writing is a language that is felt rather than read. I read this and the thought occurs, a comment written in any other way but in direct response, a poem for a poem, anything else, a regular comment doesn't seem adequate. But since I am no poet, regular will have to do.

Before I forget, which all too often happens once immersed within the words, the image is wonderful, there is such a sense of the mysterious to it, the fantastical. Also, the frames that you are creating around these poems, the way in which the story enfolds them, and they the story. And once again I just have to say how great it is to know Em and Trev are united once more.

A grand piece of writing, this is, from the use of Strum and Drang for a specific example through the elegant lines of phrases like As space expanded
a solitary voice
spoke in fear not clothed
a naked thought
. The scope of your wit and vision, your creativeness and inventiveness is mammoth even on so small a canvas, imagery, meaning aside for just a moment, it is small wonder the sense of awe that you evoke with your writing is so overwhelming for it begins right there, in the creation, in the first word, in the process of mind that went from in to blur to swoosh to head lost, I don't know how better to say it than to repeat what has been said, these words explode like fireworks as they are read, a dazzling, exciting, awe-inspiring display. Wordless wow, plain, simple, large and intricate.
of all that could have been
had but I, embraced the light
is a sentence that right here, right now I cannot bear the thought of being any further away than at the forefront of all thought.
All of the above goes on the aforementioned list.

Sunshine, I swear there are two poems. The one I write and then the one I read after I read your comments. Your comments truly are works of art in and of themselves. In fact, there have been times I've felt your comment was more worthy of reading than the chapter upon which it commented. I am blessed and honored and humbled to have you as such a faithful reader and commenter. All the blessings I have I send your way as petals upon your bath. Sweet dreams when you get that far. Missing you already. H
