What words could explain just how well done this reading was. I sit here struggling to start this comment. I have listened to it twice. On the first, the intro made me smile, made me take note of the professionalism, the aura so to speak of this reading, by the second, I knew what the rest would hold and it took me straight there. Where? To the shivers. Shivers, a few lines into the first reading, voice did that, intonation, presence, sounds and silences, not the words, those I almost didn't hear if that makes any sense at all, or to put it this way, in the first I heard the music, in the second I was able to take more note of the lyrics. Shivers, goosebumps, eyes closed of their own accord, drifting on the vibrations of voice, listening without mind, receiving and reacting, pure and concentrated. Immeasurably, shivers are when we are off the scale of good and have moved through wow and are off into the furthest reaches of awe. All just words, based on the second listen, the one that tried to gather reason and fact, the one that found words such as professional, which one could define partially in terms of layout, start, finish, method in between, but that declares moreso the prevalence, unheard, not present, is forum, time, distance, the expression is all that there was, you were within the writing, not outside of it, well, as you can see, a decent comment start is still unattainable, all I can say, repeat, is that the scale is shivers and once it is this, there is no measure. Sublime, voice and words, together transcendent.
You looked at me as no-one had ever looked before, eyes in dance (very loosely quoted no doubt), wonderful reading of this favourite among favourites, and this line in particular shone bright in all its glory.
Near the end of Hare, Tree, Flower, I flubbed a line and so reread it. In the edit, I thought I was cutting just the flub but apparently cut the flub and re-read and three more lines. Here is what is suppose to be there:
perhaps even the poet's blush she looked so nice so he thought but not as nice
Well, expect a version two of the read soon; and I'll take audio editing off my resume. :-D
A very fine reading. Was supremely wonderful to hear this poem read and with the bonus of a little background commentary. I find myself wondering where you find the snippets of music that you have used, the ones for Hare, Tree, Flower and Blood as Coin seem so perfectly in place, as though somehow fated to be chosen and I wonder if much like the images chosen to go along with a chapter, you found something therein that connected the two, music and poem/sentiment. The music is such a nice, class touch, evoking/supporting the words, and lending a remarkably professional approach to what was already very much so (previous readings)(unintentional edits aside;). I hope to see many more of these, not only is there a renewed experience of the poem itself, but it is very special and gainful to hear it read by the man who penned the words - or as close to, :). Have loved so all three of these readings, capitol S, capitol O.
The beauty of having a Mac is that all the little musical snippets come with the computer--there are, I think, more than 400 jingles, as they call them, for use in Garage Band, one of the programs that comes on every Mac. As always, thanks for the kind and supportive words. They mean even more in this time of trial and tribulation. :-D
This was the ultimate reading of an incomparable posting, I am destined as reader of Decadent Tranquility to forever be unable to articulate the standard reached in the writing, how effectively affecting it is, the great appreciation and delight gained when reading, but I do not think that I have ever felt quite so overwhelmed at the task of attempting to. Above all else that could be said is one thing, namely that these words were spoken so instinctively, unaffectedly, voice actor reading lines so to speak, but worthy prize and applause, recognition and memory, a couple of Oscars and my most overwhelmed sense of awe. I didn't read them, but I can see that I wrote two comments for this chapter and so content I shall not comment upon now again, only in as much as to say that I had the written version on screen as I listened for the second time and though written it is perfect as is, the impromptu additions, fleshing, most notably of course in the bed picture painting, added still more, added more rawness, realness, sincerity. Utterly, honestly astonished, and that is despite hearing now many supreme readings, at what you managed to accomplish here. Wow.
Sweetest the first six or seven minutes were average at best, in my mind. Then, something happened and I'm not sure what. I remember leaning into the microphone (you can hear it) and from that moment on, I felt like I was in the chapter as opposed to reading it and this is where the main ad libbing kicks in and the reading goes to another level--perhaps the last ten minutes is the best "reading" I've posted for The Story to date. My two cents. :-)

Okay, so much for my editing skills--LOL.

I so need to get me one of them! :-) Sweet dreams when you get that far.
Yes you do!
