230. Hand in my Pocket

“So Von, I guess this is goodbye,” said Rog with his usual grin that just made you wonder if the boy was getting more than he deserved.

“Goodbye my arse,” said Von. “That’s no way to do it. Meet me in my quarters and we’ll part ways like Hynerians, or have you gone all soft on me now.”

Rog glanced over at Yul and she smiled with a wink. “I think I can testify to the falsehood of your accusation Von.” Yul reared back and popped Rog’s hide, her bare hand on his leather trousers cracking forth like a fastball in an old leather mitt. “Now don’t keep him long, I’ve got work for him to do.”

Von leaned toward Yul and in all seriousness whispered, “Before you leave, do you think you could leave a vial or two behind?”

“Von!” grinned Yul. “I would have never--”

“What? I was just asking. Been a long time you know.”

“Well, I’ll tell you what, be good and I’ll see what I can do. Now get on with your lifting and toasting and all the male bonding shiott you two do. I want my boy home at a decent hour or,” she looked over her eyes, “there’ll be hellocks to pay.”

Von looked at Rog and Rog just shrugged his shoulders as if to say “she’s the boss, at least of me.” And as hard as Von tried to stop it, laugher burst forth like boulders coming down the mountain and Rog joined in because he knew it was true. The boy was pampus whipped and he knew it.

Yul kissed Rog and placed a small object in his pocket. “Just in case you forget what is waiting,” she purred as her fingers reached a little further and stayed a little longer than was necessary. If there had been more light in the room, Von would have seen a rare sight—Rog turning red.

Removing her hand from his pocket, Yul blessed his hide one more time and as she walked away turned her head, and as if to punctuate her point, dropped her chin and gave Rog her most sultry come hither look while sashaying her hips and tossing her hair. Rog just starred. And so did Von, until the door swooshed shut and snapped them out of their spell.

“All right then, suppose we best get moving,” said Von.

“Uhm, yeah, before I change my mind,” responded Rog.

Sometimes I just want to have fun (about the only purpose of this chapter) and imagine a scene that I'd like to be a part of, with a group of Hynerians I wouldn't mind hangin with. And for the record, like Rog and Von, my eyes were glued to Yul as she left and my jaw to the ground. Those Hynerian women know how to walk (for those that remember the whole chapter I wrote just on Kyra's walk). :-D

Oh, and if my eyes served me right, Yul was wearing black formfitting venusian leather pants with no back pockets and the low light caught her rear like the rising of twin moon over a midnight blue misty bay and bout just as round. Holy cow, did they look hawt in my mind. :-D

As you can see, it doesn't take much to entertain me. My parents got off cheap. :-D

Almost forgot. That little ring thing Yul put in Rog's pocket, well, never seen one of those before so I'm not sure if it is for him or her or both. I'm open to ideas if you got'em. :-D

Fabulously warm! :-) I just have to venture off the path for a second and tell you it reminded me of a documentary, I once saw, about a young man on death row, a single scene, I mean, in which he was saying goodbye to his sister, except she didn't tell him goodbye, she told him see you later. A downer in the midst of this (apologies), but my point was that here I have been half expecting to start crying from the moment the goodbyes began to be uttered and instead this chapter was one long, wide, happy smile. Perfectly sweet, perfectly fun - perfectly Rog and Von and Yul :-). I feel the need to keep using the word love, I loved this chapter, and no other word I can think of would be enough. Whether you write it or not, one just knows that feeling of warm will carry through the scenes (Rog and Von being the 'next scene' in particular) and as such, smart Hynerians that they are, they are looking away from the facts (the facts that could send chills or sadness) and instead enjoying the moments together.
Pre-coffee comment, I may have to come back to this one, since there is a whole heap of things left to say. But in short, loved this chapter!

I love your take on what this chapter perhaps could have been, for in my mind, that option, sadness at parting, well, it just never crossed my mind that Von and Rog and Yul would feel that way.

I think in part because Yul and Rog are so excited that she is going to Hope and that there is a chance--in the famous Jim Carrey line "So you're saying I've got a chance." LMAO

Von, well, he has had many partings in his life, and besides, he knows they will reunite after this mission, so this is more like a little vacation than goodbye. :-)

Now, what I really like about this chapter, besides the look on Yul's face when she slides her hand in Rog's pocket and massages his instrument of hynerian pleasure and reproduction, is the relationship we see between Rog and Von. We've seen it before, but there is just something playful here, maybe because Yul is involved, that really shows how far those two have come and how close they have come. Even Yul recognizes it. And there, I think, is where the love is. :-)

How's the coffee? Can I pour you another cup? :-)

First up, I'm terrible with goodbyes, start blubbering like there is no tomorrow, just cannot help it, and it doesn't matter if I've known the person all my life or for just a short space of time, that probably had some/great influence on my being so expectant of sad scenes ahead.
The scene between Kyra and John and the thoughts (your thoughts, ours) in relation to what might lie ahead added fixed that expectancy of tears and sadness a little more.
More later on all that other stuff (maybe),
and in response to the last paragraph of your comment, all I really need to say is that I am nodding in complete agreement. Easier on the eye. :-)

Great chapter. I'm glad that I stopped by (rather than waiting for the feed on WP to update).

Perhaps Yul gave Roger one of these (it only looks a bit like a strawberry). One wonders what it does ?

I want that fractal made into a watch. I'd wear the Tree label.

Jenni, that is one fantastic fractal and now I'm wishing I had some strawberries for breakfast. You never cease to amaze me with the beauty of your work and creativity.

As always, thanks for your kind words. As for what Yul slipped into Rog's pocket, I have no idea what it does. Well, I have some ideas--LOL--I'm just not sure they're the right ones. :-D

Oh Chicky, you do know how to make me smile. I'd be happy to fit you, but I'm not all that certain this one fits around your wrist. And I won't be asking you if you want sugar with that. :-D

I love this part..."reached a little further and stayed a little longer than necessary" That was perfect! I pictured that pause, I felt that electricity that most certainly was there.

mmmm, you know - reading stuff like that at work makes me just want to get up and go about this office building to find my own little....um, whipping boy :)

thanks for the great post today - it was a real treat !

Meg, you are most welcome. I had as much fun writing this one as any in recent memory. It was just a short, fun, happy chapter, a chapter with no tears, just good hearted teasing and laughter and saying goodbye in the right way, which is to celebrate the bonds that matter rather than focus on what could be going forward.

Whipping boy, hmmm, is there an application? I think I might qualify. :-D

I'm back in. Seems like I missed quite a fair bit.
Nice necklace of a fractal, this.

Ha! I loved this: “I think I can testify to the falsehood of your accusation Von.” Oh yes, I'm sure she can...

You're blowing me away with this fantastic writing.

I do wish they didn't have to part; but I am already anticipating the "reunion." ;-)

Trée said...

Karen you are making me smile with such a heartwarming comment. Yes, there will be a reunion and I can't wait to write that chapter.

As for Yul, I'm liking her more and more with each chapter. She's the kind of Hynerian I'd like to meet on a Friday night. :-D

Karen said...

Rog is one I'd like to meet on every day of the week; but don't tell Jack that LOL

I can imagine the passion there will be on the reunion. You better warn me when it is so I can make sure I am home to read it. It won't be good to be in "that" condition when I'm at work ;-)

Karen, Rog seems to be a fave among my readers. Imagine that. I'll give you fair warning of "read at home" chapters. :-D
