The Hood, current leader on Kulmyk, has just seen the report from Tom's interrogation. Knowledge of The Brotherhood has been confirmed with details of their mission to Bravo and plans as it related to John and Kyra.
The posts you referenced indeed shed light on The Hood. I had a difficult time understanding what he touched with his hand - He's terribly disfigured in some way and this makes him MORE dangerous? Still working my way through.
Jennifer, if I understand your query, there are two characters I think you might be confusing. The Hood is Kulmykian (there current leader--think a world leader type) and then there is The Voice (who is Arc'terxyian and the one that was disfigured at the hands of the Kulmyks and The Hood. I included the two links to show what the current Kulmykian regime under The Hood, is/was capable of. Let me know if that helps or just confuses the issue even more.
Thanks again for reading. I've noticed how much effort you've been putting in. :-)
Deena, I'm still on bucket brigade. I'll work three shifts if I have too. Blessing to you and yours my friend. Thanks for taking the time to check in on me. :-)
There may be trouble ahead... it was one thing John and Kyra and everyone else directly concerned knowing that they may or may not head back to Kulmyk and for what reason, quite something else if they are expected and that those expecting them are well aware of their intentions. Like he wasn't in enough trouble already, dear John, and just when things are going so well. Of course, nothing has happened yet, but the Hood makes a strong impression and if cages have been rattled, it generally would not seem like a good thing. :-D Your one word posts have always been as full as can be, not casual by any means, a titbit that just wets the appetite, gives food for thought, and then being the tease you are, sometimes we wait ages to get the next sentence - worst or best of all, that's the best part about them. :-) Very nice image! Very nice single sentence chapter. Very, very nice all round.
This is what I've decided to do. I am tired and I KNOW that I am tired. I am going to quit trying so hard to fight this tiredness. My mind will NOT let me understand this tonight. So I will sleep, peacefully I hope, and tomorrow evening I will look at the Hood and those other two references again. Why I need to understand that so bad, I have no idea. I am just into character development. If my rested mind STILL can't grasp it I will, of course, let you know. Thanks for your patience and encouragment. Good Night - Jennifer
Jennifer, The Hood is a very recent character that we know almost nothing about. The Voice, likewise, has been a relatively minor character. In other words, don't try too hard to find what is not there. Here is the executive summary:
The Hood is a bad man (Kulmykian Leader)
The Voice seems like a bad guy but is actually a good one. He was tortured at one point, horribly, at the hands of the Kulmyks and is currently fighting against them as the Kulmyks try to squash his civilization.
Neither one of these characters is worth losing sleep over and neither have been featured much in The Story.
Jennifer, as I reread your first comment, in the chapter "The Voice" Shen reaches out to touch what is left of the character I call "The Voice," which is to say, after his torture, he was so disfigured that he is just a bundle of flesh--thus, most don't look at him or his support system--so there is just his voice, so to speak, that everyone interacts with. Hope that helps. :-)
I want to give 'The Voice' a cuddle and make it all better.
I don't like the word 'torture' - puts the fear of G*d into me
I don't like the Hood
And I don't like that we only know that Kyra, Rog and Yul make it to earth. All three are expendable as far as I am concerned - they're volunteers.
If anything happens to Ariel that Hood monster better have his own backside covered or G*d help him if he ever runs into me - in this dimension or any other come to that!
Miladysa, I love a woman with passion. Your comment is more endearing than you know. I'll do my best to watch over the crew. No promises, but I do have some say in what happens. :-D
Come grab a seat and I'll work some of that tension from your shoulders. The Poppet does have good hands. ;-)
OK, so I started out with an uneasy dislike of Hood, a thrill of fear. I think Hood might even be one of the demons in the unused coal bin of Deborah's nightmare reality in one of my novels.
Then I read the links for more information on this character (after having checked out your list of characters) and I find Hood every bit as sinister as my first impression painted him.
Wamblings, The Hood is known from the edges of the story as there is no chapter that tells us much about him--we just know, in a shadowy way (mainly from John's experience and the infamous Law of Infidelity that almost got him and Rog summarily executed, among other bits and pieces), that what lurks beneath that hood is complex, deceptive and, in many ways, the opposite of all that Kyra is.
By the way, this story is written one post at a time without agenda. There is no master plan as to what happens next. I know no more than you or anyone else what is going to happen next. And, I'd have it no other way. The Story is as much a ride for me as for anyone that visits. Thanks for taking an interest. I'm endeared. :-)
Sounds a bit like the way my second novel is developing. :P I know at some point I will have to take all these scenes and lay them out all over the floor (good thing I have lots of floor) and arrange them into some sort of order for my hoped for future readers. I know who the characters are. I know who their secondary characters are. I know that their secondary characters will take on a life of their own. I've no idea what is going to happen then. Possibly spontaneous combustions.
Miladysa, wait till I write of the conversation between Von and Zoe as she recounts exactly how the Dyad was attacked and left for dead. Once that is done, Von will have a few words for John. Those have the potential, at lease in my mind, to be hold on to your seat chapters, or as Autumn likes to say, whiplash readings. :-D
Your very kind words flatter me more than you know. Thank you. :-)
Wamblings, the "recent comments" on my sidebar is a widget--very, very easy to install on a blogger blog. Click on the link at the bottom of the widget and follow the instructions. If you need some help, just holler. Of all the widgets in the world, the "recent comments" one is my favorite since it allows me to see who has commented on any post, regardless of how far back in a chapter they are visiting.
Your novel sounds very interesting. Sounds like I'm going to have to make more tea and free up some time to take in the view. :-)
Once you get to the download page, just look down the list, about four or five widgets and you will see the one to install "recent comments" on your blog. Click that button and off you go. :-)
Thanks Tree. It took me two tries (someday I'll learn to focus more on the instructions before diving straight in) but I made it happen. I've set it to the 10 most recent which I think at this point is all comments. :P This is getting to be so much fun! Oh, my teacup is empty again. Could I trouble you for some more hot water, maybe a couple more fresh teabags?
Wamblings, you are more than welcome. As for tea, I have an endless supply. You know, blue eyes with brown hair is an abso-frailing-lutely scintillating combination. Just so you know. :-D
Hahaha. When I was young it was blond hair and blue eyes but the older I got the darker my hair got. Now it is headed lighter again. I think though that it plans to skip right over blond. Only my beautician knows its true color now.
And just for the record... *points to out of closet post in my blog* hehe The truth is though, I like people. I don't categorize my friends "short black girl, tall white guy..." People are endlessly fascinating in all their marvelous diversity. I am totally enjoying our friendship. *sips tea*
Wamblings, your attitude fits this story perfectly. Let me point you to a very early post in the story and one of my favorites. It will tell you everything you need to know about this story:
Re-read posts and your comments. I've decided to step out on faith (in you) and just see what happens with the story. I'm really not as confused as last night but then I am not blogging in my sleep right now either.
I may need to do one of my "round the horn" chapters, which is basically where I give a short summary as to what and where each character is currently in the story. I usually do it for my own benefit when the story-lines get complicated or there is a lot going on, but this might be a good time for one. Ask me in the morning. :-)
I almost used the other F word, and, maybe, perhaps, The Hood did utter something a little stronger and the editors changed it for publication. :-D
I'm not telling. ;-)
I think he may have said a few other things too--especially as it concerns the fate of Tom, but then some things should, perhaps, be left undocumented. I just wish they didn't live in my mind. :-D
Always good to see another Frailing artist at work, especially one that knows her way around a knife. Your strokes were firm and tight and taut, a language beyond the paint and canvas. It was fan-frailing-tastic shiott! :-D

I love the image on this one, Mr. Tree.
It reminds me of a very cool mask.
Which reminds me of the scene in Revenge of the Nerds where Betty gets fucked on the moonwalk at the carnival by Darth Vader.
I like a man in a mask.
Don't ask me how I get all this from lookin' at that pic.
Strumper, I'll let The Hood know how you feel. Don't be surprised if you get a phone call. :-D
But I'm not sure he's gonna have real butter. Just SO you know. :-D
I think I like The Hood already.
I will go grocery shopping tomorrow, Mr. Tree.
So, no worries there.
And that butter will only have ONE use.

Oh, shit.
Um, I guess I got a little too excited.
Strumper, be careful with The Hood. He is a very, very bad dude. Here are a couple posts that might give you a taste of what I mean:
The Voice
Pizzle Diablo

Strumpet has an Asshole Complex.
It's in my blood.
Somethin' I've been workin' on for years...
...but there's just something about an asshole, Tree....
Strumper, duly noted. I'll keep that in mind as I further develop our friend, The Hood. ;-)
just stopping in to peruse the art and
thoughts of my friend..

Sweetest, I'll just say this. We know from the interviews on Earth that Kyra, Rog and Yul make it there. Everyone else, so to speak, is in play. :-D

Trée - You can tell how good a story is from the emotion it provokes. I'm provoked - excellent writing!

Oh, I meant to ask. How do you get the most recent comments to show up in your sidebar? I like that feature but couldn't find it in my options.
