449. Dear Canopy
Ariel pulled the sheet up to her chin, her fingers bent like bat feet in the dark. "Canopy," she whispered, "play me the song of the Dinkleberries. And keep it quiet." As if by magic, the canopy above her bed started to glow in teals and purples, and with music melodious sang a song that made a little girl smile and delight in dreams of hope and possibility.

Just one of the many, many reasons, I adore you. Beginning with the image, through what that beautiful mind of yours sees therein to the writing of a (short and sweet) chapter. Less than 70 words and still hearts warm and smiles beam and happiness ensues. You have a very special kind of magic, Poppet, bless your hide.
Just seeing the world as I'd like it to be. ;-)
Much love to you my Sweetest one. I think I might know where I can get my hands on one of those canopies. The playlist is a little different. Want to join me? :-D
Soundtrack for this chapter could be Jennifer Terran's version of Que Sera Sera as the camera zooms out and we see a little girl strong and filled with the love of an active imagination. :-)
Always. :-D
PS Got my towel.
Oh wouldn't that be lovely?? to have a canopy like that..
when you invent one..let me know
deena
Deena, you are first on my list. :-)
Canopy :) reminds me of my childhood.
I remember sleeping under one & it is like you have a small world of your own inside which you can travel far and wide imaginatively.
I LOVE the fractal accompanying it & the 'hanging bat' image is so apt and cute! You have a way with words :)
Thanks Mona. Always a great pleasure to see you stopping by. :-)
I just love Ariel, absolutely love her. I like the phrase "performed the magic of making memories.." Whether the events are good or bad in our life, we still have that magic. I'm so glad this post was about Ariel, she makes me so happy! I know that the story is still being formed by the author, but could Ariel please be protected? If I am overstepping my bounds here, please forgive me. In life or imagination, I believe in standing up for the little people.
Jennifer, no promises, but after taking away Cait, her mother, I have no taste for more blood anytime soon. Besides, this story has about twenty more years to go and I'm going to need to keep some of them around. :-D
Ariel has become a very special part of the story. I never imagined she would take such a central role. Sometimes you just have to go where the story takes you. ;-)
Oh my GAWD!
The things a Strumpet could do with a canopy like THAT!!
Where do I get me one of those?
I see you already have a waiting list.
Put me the frail on it.
:-D
Strumper, consider yourself the frail on it. In fact, I'm researching a QST version. Might only make one of those. :-D
"Ariel pulled the sheet up to her chin, her fingers bent like bat feet in the dark."
Wonderful!
Miladysa, you have the ability with just a single word to make me smile. Thank you for that gift. :-)
How magical the Song of the Dinkleberries must be. I image the lights in the canopy dancing as the music plays.
Deb, I saw those purple Dinkleberries marching across the teal landscape. :-D
Sweet! Could I get one of those canopies programed for both Que Sera Sera and Somewhere Over The Rainbow? Ariel is such a sweetheart. I look forward to reading more about her.
Whoa! Trée! My connection to this one's so strong I had to write a post about it.
Doug, I'm honored to be mentioned on the most beautiful and unique blog I know. The real dream is the life you and Amber are living. All the best my friends and keep those incredible photos coming. :-)
Wamblings, as soon at I get Deena's and Strumpet's done, you're next on the list. Or course, if you come rub my neck, I'm not beyond a little bribery to moving you up the list. I did grow up in Louisiana where everything happens under the table. :-D
This is pretty. I like it. I've got to learn to do this. I think I will go and borrow my daughters computer drawing tablet and play for a while.
Marsha, the program I use to create these images is Apophysis. Its freeware, so if creating these types of images appeals to you, go download the program and have fun. I have to warn you, the program can be very addicting--so you might want to tell your family they might not see you for awhile. :-D
*wipes spewed tea off monitor* I actually do back massage, or at least used to before the accident.
I like a woman with educated hands and experienced touch. I'm moving you up the list. :-D
