469. Perfectly Pristine

The Hood clicked his nails on the desk. Back and forth. His fingers moving like waves. "Are our men in position?"

"Yes."

"Rules of engagement clear?"

"Crystal."

"Humor me."

"Administer the vial."

"Yes."

"Just a touch. A bump. Skin on skin."

"Yes."

"She will need to use the services."

"And?"

"We follow. Thirty seconds beyond the void, she collapses."

"Maybe less."

"Yes, maybe less."

"I want her alive."

"Absolutely."

"Undamaged."

"Of course."

"Pristine."

"Perfectly."

"Yes. Perfectly pristine."

"As for the others?"

"Let history teach our children."

"Thank you."

"Bloody page after bloody page."

"Like the setting summer suns."

"Let them weep the moons into rust and upon that rust we shall nourish the iron will of our youth."

A cliffhanger of a chapter, suspense and concern created in equal measures, and increased curiosity though his plans may be unpleasant (so to speak since the vial is in use), one cannot help but want to see more of The Hood, to understand better, equal measures via the layout and build of the writing. Excellently executed. :-)

Amazing.
He comes across devoid of spirit. Evil personified. Satanic. Very easy to despise! Jennifer

Hey, I wonder if 'S' is wearing her "I <3 the Hood" t-shirt?

Thank you so much for stopping by my page and praying for Erin! I recieved a comment about the little girl and the lady said that her parents were in her sisters sunday school class. She gave me a web site that you can go to and it updated every day. Erin does seem to be doing better, but she still has a long way to go, so we still need to keep her in our prayers! Here is the website and I will also post it on my blog! http://www.caringbridge.org/cb/viewHome.do Bless you!

I love this dialect. Its mad how you don't even have to describe the people talking. Just by writing a conversation you give your characters life.

Do you publish your work? If not find a publisher. Seriously you have talent. xx

Afternoon Denmark. Thank you for the coffee. :-)

Elise, I feel the same way about your work. You paint the most wonderful scenes and your characters are so real I feel I could bump into one of them in London this afternoon. Thank you, as always, for your very, very kind words.

Maybe I could help Aimee with her issues. :-D

Brandy, you are most welcomed. More thoughts and prayers forthcoming.

Miladysa, go for it. I'll watch. :-D

Jen, I think the Strumper is in Florida, enjoying some oysters and wearing a Hood sweatshirt with the arms torn off. :-D

The Hood is not all evil. Just kinda seems that way from our current point of view. Time, perhaps, will show us a little more depth to his character, and like all of us, it will be complicated and confusing and contradictory.

Snow, you sharing that chocolate? I hear dark chocolate is good for you. No shiott--one ounce a day is good for the heart and good for the libido. ;-)

OMG! "Let them weep the moons into rust and upon that rust we shall nourish the iron will of our youth." OMG! That line rawks!!!

Have you read Dean Koontz 'From the Corner Of His Eye'? Hood reminds me muchly of a character in that book. No conscience.

Beautifully portrayed.

Trée said...

W, I've yet to read Dean Koontz. Would you recommend that I do?

As always, thanks for the very kind words. :-)

very staccato yet powerful...

Mona, when I write a post like this I sometimes fear that I've lost the ability to write more than one short sentence of dialogue at a time. Once in the staccato flow, it is very hard to break away. Then again, once in that flow, the writing takes on a poetic flow of its own that almost demands a rigidness. Thanks for the kind word. I like powerful. :-D

Dear readers, I am The Hood and I've been reading your comments. I am not surprised although a bit disappointed with the tone. None of you know me. You only know what others have said. And you have only voyeuristically listened in on a few, very few, of my conversations. Yet, still, I sit and I read and I have been judged, both good and bad (I'll deal with you later Strumper). Labeled and boxed on the most cursory evidence. I offer succor for the pain and ugliness that spills forth from your uneducated hearts. All that glitters, as they say, is not gold.

Let me say this: This "story" is over two years old. Has any other character, to date, been able to do what I am doing here, now? For the new readers, the answer is no, which is to say, no other figure in this story has spoken directly to you, as I am here. I want you to think about that for a second. How that is possible? What might that mean. Things are not always as they seem. Mortal beings are limited by the language of their minds, and language, as I see expressed by your species, is rather narrow, and, quite frankly, amusingly immature. I pity the prisons of mind that entrap such primitive souls. Sadly, you know not that you are even imprisoned. What a mind frail.

Sweet dreams my lovelies. Let me know if any of you awake. I'll be around.

Firstly, in regards to the header image, this would look its best as a wall painting, covering the entire area from skirting to ceiling and corner to corner. Gorgeous image.

I as a reader had not expected this, to be addressed by a character. I want to ask so many questions, how, why and more hows and whys. Admittedly, what you say is true, our contact with you up until this point has been indirect and limited and as with all things one piece of a puzzle will not provide the complete picture, of this I believe we all are aware. Many, many months ago there was another episode that gave food for thought, confirmed more recently with the treatment that in particular Cait was subject to. My gut tells me that your somewhat cryptic comments here about gold and all things not being as they seem may be with John foremost in your mind...my gut tells me too to worry, that though we may have judged you on few facts, those facts have a wide base. Your presence here serves to increase the sense of foreboding. We do not always hear what we want to hear and I think perhaps if you chose to, you would information to reveal that would come under that catergory. Light you may shed, but it may not be pretty and so it is with trepidation that I personally receive the news that you will "be around".
Perhaps I shouldn't embellish on the information you already have, yet confidence and pride is so strong in the female as I believe I heard you refer to her once, there is no extra advantage to be gained - for regardless of puzzle pieces, loyalties will remain - from advising you not to underestimate.

I agree with Wamblings; this line rawks!

Ah, the dark side.
In the shadows, lurking. Evidently very close...indeed.

A treasure I have stumbled across tonight. The Hood speaks to me. The serpant spoke as well..."your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good from evil." Promises promises. Where did those seemingly gentle words get Sister Eve? Using my sin of judgement against me to guilt me into not feeling as I do? Clever tactic. As deceiving as a serpant. When have I had so much fun? It is like walking in a garden, choosing a piece of fruit to satisfy hunger. The permissive fruit or have I found the forbidden. The story thrives...long live the story!

I jumped over to this chapter because I had commented excessively on the most recent post. I get tired of seeing my thumbnail photo and inadequate words. And I find this - ooh it is just too rich and I almost missed it!

I NEEDED to comment on the header - does it have a name? Can I name it? If so, it is called MINE!

Jen, you just never know what is going to happen. :-D

Glad you liked the header. You can call it "Mine." :-D

I have been away.

I have missed much.

I have been back all of thirty seconds and the first thing my eye went to, (other than all the FRAILING UNBELIEVABLE imagery teasing my peepers,) was the 'unprecedented event' spoken of in the sidebar and I immediately clicked away.

Another thirty seconds later and I am COMPLETELY drenched with excitement as the HOOD TALKED TO ME!

What is my problem that I could not be here to view this miraculous occurrence? Ugh. My #1 Crush....the Hood.... he spoke to me and I am swooning.

And I was late. Oh, if I had known, my real life problems would have melted away....

Oh, Hoodie...you rock.

Okay, Mr. Tree...now I must make some sort of attempt to catch up on everything I have missed in my absence.

It might take me a bit.

But, tonight is dedicated to it.

This Bud's for you.

(Although, it's really vodka and sugar-free lemonade. But, I'll be sippin' on it and leisurely enjoying my night of catch-up as thoughts roam about in the back of my mind about the Hood.)

I Heart You, Hood!

And, just so you know, Hood. I fully anticipate and will gladly partake in any punishment you care to impart upon my bottom for my tardy response...

:-D

First of all....Hood?

I LOVE it when you tap your fingertips along the desktop.

I can still hear the echoes of their clicking.

That sound makes the tiny hairs along my skin stand on end in anticipation of your awesomeness.

~more swooning~

Oh, I wasn't in Florida, Mr. Tree. Just going through some personal Blogland issues. Not really Blogland issues....just reality gettin' in the way of a good time here in my stressless play world.

I leave for Florida on the 17th, get back the 23rd.

When I'm in Florida, I'll still be online.

As for the shirt....I haven't made it yet...

But, I will.

I'm thinking of colour schemes.

Ha.

No one is all good or all bad.

Not even the Hood.

I see the good in the Hood.

Oh, that's so goin' on the t-shirt.

And I eat dark chocolate like it's its own food group.

It's loaded with anti-oxidants.

So is red wine.

The two also go great together.

Now what a night THAT would be....dark chocolate, red wine....and the HOOD.

Mmmmmmm....

Here Hoodie, Hoodie....

Uh...Wamblings? I am SO gonna have to read that Koontz book!!
