Housekeeping

I've finally complied The Story into a single file, which is why you may have seen my blog change from black to white and back again (had to change it in order to capture black text for cutting and pasting as I quickly realized white text on a white page was a little hard to read).

No worries, the soul of DT is black background--the images and ambiance simply fit the story and the images best. My question, however, is this: If there are those that find reading the story with black text on a white background much easier on the eye, I'm willing to perhaps change for a day or two each week (beta blogger makes changing colors about as easy as it can be so really no extra work to do so). Give me your feedback in comments please. Of course, if everyone is fine with the traditional white text on black background there is no reason to alternate.

A few stats on The Story to date:

Chapters (postings): 190
Images: 221
Word Count: 68, 866
Pages (single spaced--sans images--size 12 font) 203

I'm partial to black ;-) Looks more deeply intense that way. Those are impressive stats!

Thanks Terry. Your vote as been counted--twice. :-D

I had no idea the story had that many words in it. Makes me wonder if I have too many. Maybe I could give some to Tube since she seems to be lacking. ;-)

:-D Trace could use a few more. Miss her. That's that happens when you meet that special someone... the rest of us go without :-)

She'll be back; and when she does, we'll make her crawl on her knees and beg like a dog. Of course, I always did picture her on her knees, in plaid. :-D

Ooooh, did I just say that? Let me check. Yeah, I did. :-D

Blame G Poppy. What can I say. :-)

In your case, I like the black background.

However, on mine, I find the dark background distracting, and have been wanting to change to plain white for quite some time. Plain white background with 12 point times roman font seems to be what all the professional editors and agents want.

Im just afraid, if I switch my background, I will screw things up and loose da meat of me blog.

Shudder.

But, in your case, Black is COOL...just like you.

Oh Kel, so sweet of you to say. Would Gloria feel the same? :-D Those were some great pics by the way. Thanks for stopping by and leaving some feedback. Much appreciated.

Reading is definitely easier on a white background, but black is better for the images. Not that I can see ANY at the moment. Blogger plays up every so often on some beta blogs and I see no images.

I prefer the black background, myself. the white background seems to blast me in the eyes. Just my preference. The fractals seem to look better on a dark background to me also.

Chicky, I've been having issues with Blogger for about ten days now. Uploading images has been particularly painful of late. Thanks for the feedback. I totally agree about the black background and images.

DJB, I'm with you on the white. I've tried grey, but that just looks butt ugly. So, we're heading back to black soon, very soon. :-)

Amazing stats!

2 weeks to go, let me know what kind of cake you like the best. :-)
Happy Sunday, x

PS Black is definitely the way to go appearance-wise for DT, images naturally, but words also, nothing else would look as good. As for ease, my eyes have a slight focusing problem and white on black is easier than the other way around.

German Chocolate for Poppet. Red Velvet for Sweet Pea. Banana Cream for G Pop and I'll take a couple éclairs. :-D

Fuligin black or melanic black, call it what you will, but we are back in black. :-D

Afternoon Sweetest. :-)

Got a little eye candy for you at Trebuchet. I think you'll like it. :-)

Tree!

You read my post about Gloria and did not leave a comment???

Awe come on ol buddy ol pal...Ive got 14 comments on that post and am well on my way to breaking my all time record of twenty.

Give a girl a smack in the stats, would ya love?

Kel, consider it done. All I could think was how hot all those women looked and somehow I didn't think that was exactly what anyone wanted to hear. :-D

I'm so impressed with all the work you've done. I only wish I was able to figure out how to do the same. :o)

Trée said...

Lindsey, thanks for those kind words. I never set out to do this story and if you had told me I had to write 70,000 words, create 220 images over 190 postings I would have told you you were crazy. Having said that, I still adhere to the age old advice: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. This story has been nothing more than one post and then another, and then one more.

Plus, I would be remiss if I didn't say this: the encouragement I have received by so many bloggers has been immeasurable to me. Before this story, I would have never called myself a writer or an artist (and I still struggle to do so), since I had never written or sketched or painted before. Reader comments, more than anything else, helped me carry on and start to believe. Without those positive and encouraging comments, I don't think you see what you see here.

And, I feel this story is just getting started. :-)

Thou we have never met, you warm my heart like a true friend.

Kel, I think we would be great friends, sharing many laughs and much philosophy along the way. Of this I have no doubt. :-)

Black background, white text. That's my vote. Plain white background can be hard on the eyes :)

Either way is great; but I do think the black with white text is a bit more mysterious, and perhaps goes with the theme of the story.

Have a wonderful day and I hope you and Jack enjoyed the weekend. *HUGS*

I believe you!
14 pages in one sitting for one scene, characters being introduced, numerous scenes going on at all times (esp. just now) and in different time frames, abso*lutely, this is still the beginning, yet more greatness to come, unlimited, I've no doubt whatsoever.

Happy Monday, G-pop and the gang :-D, those preferences have been duly noted. xo

Hey, Sunshine. I'm back in Phoenix again for more meetings so my time online will be limited for the next three days.

As for the story, I see no end in sight and in many ways I feel we are just getting to know the characters while there are other characters that we have spent very little time with so far. Many, many more chapters I think. :-)

Trée said...

Thanks Karen. I completely agree so back to black, back to our roots. Jack says hello and if you need a hand, with anything, he is more than willing. :-)

Trée said...

Thanks Jenni. I think this one is unanimous. Black it is. :-)

Jack B. said...

Thanks, for this, Tree. Now I can finally catch up on the story in one sitting.

Trée said...

You're welcome Jack.

I read up to "The Story into a single file" and then I came straight here to beg :)

I definitely like the black though. I was all disoriented to see the white.

I've missed this blog!

Trée said...

Bean, consider it done. Enjoy. And no worries, DT is back in black to stay. :-)

Autumn Storm said...

Many, many more chapters I think.
Best news. :-)

Hope you have a really good trip!

Sunshine, it was a good trip. Hope we are a day closer to that smile from the internet gods. Missing you like you wouldn't believe.
