756. once touched

love is

either everything

or nothing

within which

bliss, joy, pure as light

outside of

pain unimaginable

and once touched

of love

of this light divine

one can never again

be untouched

the world

never again

as once

it was

found within Trev's journal

And I believe there are many people who live an entire lifetime never truly knowing what love is. You can look at someone(a couple) and tell if there is truly love there, or if they are just going through the motions. Unfortunately, I believe, most are just going through the motions. I think of an elderly couple that I once watched, probably well into their 80's, sitting on a bench sharing an ice cream cone. They were oblivious to the world around them. However, I was close enough, and we were sitting there long enough, that I was able to "eaves drop" (OK, slap my wrist), I could tell they had been together for many centuries, but it was as though they were sharing this ice cream on a 1st date.

TIGHT HUGS and WARM KISSES

LOVE ALWAYS, XOXOXOXO

How it is that we all instinctively know that such love exists, it is that which we all have dreams of, but only the fortunate few will know. Reality far surpassing dreams too, I should imagine. Your title, I could spend a lifetime with, two words seldom spoke so abundantly. What one would not give. To have but a single day, I would offer up all the rest to the hell you describe, pain unimaginable, this post brings Mary to mind.
Poet, you are a master of your craft, a million times or more, I have written of your simplicity, your direct expression, an apple in the hand is no different that the apple on your page, never, though the hundreds of writers whose work it has been my pleasure to spend some time with, have I ever known anyone, always, in every word, in every sentence, to write so truthfully. This poem is magnificent. once touched For this alone, for the way it captures heart, mind and soul, I need never read or see or feel another thing in my entire life to know that I had seen (read, touched, been touched by, felt, embraced, been enraptured by/?) something most wonderous.
