Simple, complete, lovely.

He could have said:

As breath, you are my thoughts.

How to explain the thought of another such that she becomes life itself, as the breath; and when she is near, it is as breathing and when she is gone, as if plunged back underwater. There is also the idea of no separation as this second version of Trev's note implies, that to think of her is not something other, but the thought of her itself is as the blood coursing, she is life, his life, her life, the two as one.

Sigh, I am struggling to say what I want to say. Will try again when I can think of a better way to express the sense of utter oneness, where one person blends into the other and the breath becomes tethered, but tethered is not the right word because it implies a this and that and what I am trying to show is the breath of two becoming the breath, together, of just one.

Ms Storm, you snuck in with a comment before I could post the note above. :-)

Okay, I like version two much, much more, so I'm flipping the two:

The new official version of Trev's note: As breath, you are my thoughts.

And the original (As breath, you are in my thoughts) now becomes an early version he discarded, I suppose much as I just have. :-D

The second says what the first implied. The second is exquisite.

I must say, though I know you will respond of struggling to capture all that you would like to, that this post is a testament to your magnificent abilities for expression for as much as you wrote in the comment above, as intense, consummate as it would be your desire to capture..As breath, you are my thoughts. is so heartfelt and forceful, as reader merely reading, I was rendered breathless.

As a further note on the metaphor of breath:

As we draw breath, we take that which is outside of us, the very air, and before the exhale, assimilate life, from lung to heart to every cell within our body. So what was two, us/air, through the breath, becomes one, becomes life and then I think, without air, the human form can survive approximately seven minutes. As Trev might say, seven minutes without Em is as seven minutes without air. Sigh. So as breath she is, something that he takes within, that gives him life, and hope, and dreams and dare I say, a future. :-)

LotL, the rain has stopped, although the sky looks as if it could start again any moment but from looking at the radar, I think we are past the worst of it. Now we wait for the rivers to crest (if that is the right term since most of them have already overflowed), try to stay off the roads, and begin damage assessment.
