309. [censored] [censored]

“M
ommy, is daddy in trouble?” asked Ariel.

“I’m not sure sweetie. But your daddy is a very brave man, a very, very brave man,” said Cait.

“Do you love him?”

“I’m sorry hon, what did you say?”

“Do you love daddy?” Slight pause. “Because I do.”

Cait was a strong woman. Tears flowed anyway. “Yes, sweetie, yes. I love your daddy. I love him very much.”

Ariel snuggled into her mothers arms. “Good.”

And so the two rocked quietly lost in their own thoughts.

“Mommy?”

“Yes dear?”

“Does daddy love us?”

After tucking Ariel into bed, Cait picked up the phone. “Sue, where is John? Okay, can you put him on the line?”

“Cait?”

“You [censored] [censored]!”

“Cait? Cait?” John shook the receiver. “Cait?”

Great follow-up. I feel so bad for Cait and Ariel... all of them, really!

More *HUGS* to you and Jack... oh and sending a little wink to Jack.

Karen, Cait and Ariel will be okay. Its John I'm worried about. :-D

Great stuff. Have especially enjoyed reading these last two chapters. Hope your weekend is going well.

Thank you Jenni. This chapter was inspired by the song I've attached. I was listening to Tori and the chapter just popped in my head. I had no plans to write this snippet of a chapter. I heard the lyrics and just wrote what you see here. As for my weekend, well, I leave in the morning for business, so it seems a little short. :-D

I'm worried about him too but thank you for the insight about Cait and Ariel. However, now I'm more worried about John. Thanks for that ;-) LOL

Well, here is what could happen. Cait throws John out. John hooks up with Kyra. Kyra realizes John is not all "that" and throws him out too. Rog doesn't regain his sight, but John does. Yul, of course, will have nothing to do with Rog. So, Rog and John open a bar on the City of Hope and Lil' and Sal become regular customers. Now don't tell anybody, but Lil' is the one I most want to shag. You should know the image I have of her in my mind. Gold page boy hair, white face, ruby red lips and autumn eyes. :-D

LOL at the above. :-D I can just see them too, looking so very Rog and John like (Quaid, Clooney) the bar would be packed, but living up to my expectations they would spend their days and nights pining for Cait and Yul regardless of how many Lil's entered the place, not on the surface perhaps, these boys being these boys they'd never directly admit it to each other. :-D

Love the title, simple as.
One of my many favourite songs, and one that I haven't heard in forever, so nice to be reacquainted with it again. As I've said before, I so like to hear about what brings about that first wave of inspiration on which the rest of a chapter cruises. Just plain fascinating how ideas originate from one moment to the next, released by one trigger or another, and one has to wonder at what part luck plays in that, or whether there is, as I suspect in your case, just a neverending well of creativity and though each bucket, so to speak, brings forth a different batch, it is all water. I know what I mean. :-D

Out of the mouths of babes, as they say, this reminds me of when I was five and my great grandmother passed away and I decided to ask my great grandfather one day some weeks later whether it made him sad that she was gone. I remember the look he gave me so vividly, remember wishing I had not asked the question, especially since I knew the answer, and I just imagine Ariel seeing her mother cry might wish too that she hadn't asked it, at least the first of them. The second however is almost as heartbreaking to the reader as it must be to Cait, to hear the question spoken already knowing a child so young, and Cait herself may have been asking the same question, would start to wonder, start to query whether a father who has been so absent recently, and more importantly upon witnessing Cait's obvious range of emotions connected thereto this mission as opposed to others, truly does love her as much as he has said in the past, has shown in the past, that he does.
This is a smashing little chapter, high in emotion, and a great follow-up to the one that preceeded it. Nice work, x

Sunshine, this was a chapter written with teary eyes. I wasn't planning on writing a chapter. I was sitting at my computer and listening to music when this song came on. I wasn't really even listening to the song, but that one line about daddy struck a chord in my heart and this little snippet of a chapter popped out from teary eyes.

That's the beauty of the story and of you.

Good evening ahead, sweet dreams when you get that far, x

Thank you Sweetest. Sweet dreams to you in your new home. :-)

Sweetest, you are absolutely right. That last question by Ariel goes straight to the heart, like a shinny silver dagger. This chapter was so very vivid in my mind. I probably should have done a commentary to paint the picture of what I saw in my mind's eye. Although this chapter is rather short, I lived a lifetime in the scene between Ariel and Cait.

Still time, once you get back, and I for one would love to hear more about that lifetime.

That lifetime was a series of images that flashed through my mind when I heard that one lyric. Amazing how music can do that. Thanks for the wishes. I'm home, safe and sound if not exhausted. :-)
