Into the backseat John tucked Kyra and her heavy lidded eyes. Ariel spooned into her belly, gently pulling Kyra's arms around her, a cocoon of community. Em leaned against them both. The three as kittens in a winter barn, bound by warmth, a common bond, a shared humanity beyond age or race, Hynerian and Kulmyk, together, one.
John looked behind catching one set of eyes, wide, smiling the smile of usefulness, purpose, significance. She caught his eye and in the look, father and daughter, a family, a home, a corner turned. Blond hair in a black cloak, day rising from night, convent pure, the black and white of truth not parsed, the oneness that could not be cleaved, divided, boxed or labeled. The mornings would be different now. The dawn rising breathed the transcended wind of hope.

The fractal here is truly engaging.
The colours pull my eye inside of it and I keep seeing all different kinds of things as I look at it.
It's so compelling to me, this image you've created.
And hope, yes...I see hope in it too.
xoxo, Tree, and thank you for all of your well wishes.
My interview's at 4. No matter how it goes, I'm pretty excited about it. So, thanks again!
Hey Strumper, do you see the little Ariel eyes looking forth? Do you see the primrose hair framing her face?
All the best with your interview. I'm pulling for you. :-)
You, Poppet, are an eternal source of delight and pleasure. From the title to the very lovely final sentence this is so soothing and hopeful and full of togetherness after the chapters of late that have seen so much loneliness and aloneness. There is no mention of Von, and we know not yet whether all will indeed be well, but one is left with only good feelings, warmth, reading this. Loved the kitten metaphor, you reign supreme once again in your usage hereof, creating such illustrative images and impressions, painting the scene with bold colours. Loved particularly too the sentence describing Ariel's smile and the promise that regardless of what else happens, John and Ariel's bond has strengthened by these events. Such a delightful piece of writing, such a great pleasure to read you, joy expanding.
Agree heartedly with Strumpet in regards to the image, compelling, mesmerizing.
I was listening to Enya sing Silent Night and this image of Ariel spooning Kyra came to mind, so thus, so it was written. :-D
"bound by warmth, a common bond, a shared humanity beyond age or race, Hynerian and Kulmyk, together, one."
I hope OUR country can do that ....now that the elections are over.
You and I both. :-)
This almost sounds like 'after the election' :D
I love the powerful visual imagery you created here!
Thanks Mona. I think I was influenced by the day. ;-)
Oh, yes I dooooo...yes I doooo!!!!
I just went back and looked!
It's SOOOoooo awesome.
I see it! I see it!
xo! xo!
You can wait on my table anytime you like. Dance on it too. :-D
The picture of the three women curled into each other made me think of scripture in the Bible.
The description in the passage is of one of the disciples leaning/reclining on Jesus breast. Something about that always seemed like a moment that I NEEDED to see but was not sure what I was supposed to do with it. Two men, not related (father son) and not lovers, do not generally lounge on each other. So it was such a moment of purity and trust in Jesus that this man felt that he could do that.
And there is an innocence here in this chapter as well. Granted they are not well, but they are seeking each other for comfort.
I chased a rabbit a LOOONG way on this one, didn't I? :)
And I enjoyed every bit of the chase too. I like the analogy. As for as the innocence, I plead guilty as charged. :-)
