Got to start somewhere. Painted in Corel's Painter. Reference: Me, looking in a mirror. :-D

Interesting self portrait. I never used Painter. Is it difficult?

Yul is stunning. It is nice to see portraits of your characters. The imagery enhances the already rich story.

Deb, Painter is a fabulous program and as easy to start with as picking up a brush and painting on canvass. The only tool I think you really need is a tablet. Wacom makes the best and they have a whole range of prices. Their new "Bamboo" line is very affordable and comes with Painter Essentials, which is the entry level version of Painter. And the program is a ton of fun to use.

Really like the style of this, the earthy colours, wouldn't have been at all surprised to see this in a gallery with a hefty price tag attached to it. The hair, the lips, the nose, the neck line and even the colour shirt, the forehead too recognizable as you, the only thing would be the eyes, but to give them the life that yours have would have made this a different portrait and it is very appealing as it is. Very nicely done. :-) Excited about the '1', means there may likely be a '2'. Happy Friday Poppet. Just got back from a shift at the refuge, long day, wonderful day. Love and hugs to you, x

I click over here to comment and everything falls apart in my home.

"MOM!!!!"

Everything is handled now so.....what on Earth was I going to say?

Ah, self portrait. Aren't you gorgeous!! If I attempted to draw myself it would be a stick figure. You know, REALLY skinny. Not much for realism.

I posted a drawing that my mother did of herself on a Friday, probably a month ago. It was a REALLY good likeness. She drew it with pastels, looking in the mirror in her bathroom, as she was....indisposed. I got the portrait from her and framed it (albeit cheaply) and it is priceless to me.

I wish that I had gotten that talent from her. Instead I inherited her willingness to laugh. Which is fine too.

I like the Self Portrait, and the art work that you have been sharing lately. Have a great weekend.

Jennifer

Oh, and my beautiful daughter turns TWELVE tomorrow. Tree, she has grown up too fast. Breaks my heart and puffs it up with pride, all at the same time.

Jen, thanks for the kind words. Corel's Painter is such a fantastic program. I do miss the smell of oil paints but I don't miss the mess and the mistakes. :-)

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend too. :-)

I like your pink lips.

And brilliant eyes.

And green shirt.

But, most importantly, I like your strokes.

I really, really do.

I agree with Madame Storm. The colours are so earthy and just make it all so real.

You have such talent, Mr. Tree.

In so many different areas too! My!

I WISH I knew how to paint. I don't even know where to begin the old-fashioned messy way, or on my comp.

I think it's so awesome that you see yourself the way you do.

I would be curious to see what would come out if I tried something like this.

I'd like to hear you say that, up close, you know, that you like my strokes. :-D
