The Tide is Turning

I'm posting this video not as a political statement and if you are unable to separate a message of hope from political partisanship, please do not view, for I do not want to alienate a reader of The Story by interjecting politics into this blog. I'm posting this video, set to Roger Waters stirring music, because the lyrics and the images, all of them, move me.

Thanks so for sharing, was as you wrote very moving. Based on what I have seen of him, heard of him, this man deserves his chance. He inspires belief, sends out such a message of hope just by his demeanour, his own belief that the changes that most people dream of can become a reality and what is needed is a collective effort. Watching him there is a great sense of history in the making, that these are important times, that here is a man that will be remembered a hundred years from now for the good that he helped create.
Truly moving to watch this video, not a dwelling on what has happened, rather signalling an much needed end, that those images will not be reoccurring with new faces.

Stephanie, I think we all want the same things in life but it seems to take singular events of tragic proportions to bring us to our common ground. I don't know if Obama is what he seems to be or whether he is just more of the same. I do know he inspires many in ways that only happen on a generational time frame. The hope I have is that he is, however slight, different, that he can bring us to see with new eyes. I suppose most of all, I appreciate his desire to move forward, to see the road ahead, to focus on what can be done versus what is not important. Win or lose, he has run the best campaign this season and his organization and skill gives me hope for a new day, a new course. I am tired of the politics of personal destruction where the candidate we have is the last man standing and issues are sacrificed at the alter of personal and party ego, for the sake of power and privilege. I don't know if Obama is different. I do know he is the only one still standing that offers hope of a new day, hope that a different approach will be tried, one not afraid to seek healing with positive action. :-)

Sweetest, I would like to think our country is wiser than it appears to be. Still, I think we are a generation or two from living in a more equal society. Racism, unspoken, is still strong in this country and the very ones that practice it the most are the ones who claim otherwise. At dinner the other night, and I will not mentioned relation or age, the comment was uttered that 'they could not vote for Obama' because of 'his name.' His name was just not American. I was at a lost for words--that was their whole argument, end of case.

We are not there yet. I hope we are close enough that he has a legitimate chance. I'd like to think he does.

Thanks Trée. Hope is always a good message.

BTW - I absolutely love your title image!! It's such a 'WOW' image!

Deb, the title image is from the chapter where they find Trev on the floor with the thorn flower. Does look much better large.

Here's to Hope. :-)

During times of change, as we as a nation go through during an election year, it some times is easier to burry our heads in the sand so as to avoid all the negativism that we are bombarded with. THIS, is an absolute tribute to the other side of that coin. HOPE not only for our country's future but for our children's future as well.

Simply beautiful. Messages like this should be sent around the world.

As always, take care.

Meg, I couldn't agree more. The message is not one politician over another, one party or the other, but a more universal movement, a movement that takes a higher plane, a vision that sees beyond business as usual, a courage to face an entrenched foe, whether it be person or perception, issue or idea. As always, nice to see you stopping by. :-)

I think Obama's name rocks.

It's like onomatopoeia sexy.

And he looks like Denzel.

And he's from my neck of the woods.

And his chick is cool.

I tried to watch your vid, (I do love Mr. Waters,) but my comp will not let me get more than 18 seconds into it. So, I will have to come back on a day when my computer is a bit more speedy.

Change.

Change is sexy too.

And there are way too many idiots in this world who believe things that you cannot argue with. The person's statement will have no logic and one cannot debate with that. One can retort that it is illogical. But, those types of people don't care much about logic anyhow. I, mean, REALLY, what makes a name like 'John,' or 'Bob,' or 'Henry' sound American? They are ALL only sounds to our ears open to INDIVIDUAL interpretation. And I suppose it IS his/her American Individual Right to believe in such strange concepts as 'I cannot vote for him because his name is not American sounding.'

It is people like this that make us appreciate the coolness in others so much.

And you, my friend, are very, VERY cool.

So is Obama.

Obama is cool.
