Venus Hum

Initial impressions from last night’s performance at the Mercy Lounge—in incomplete sentences:

A voice sublime, control masterful, depth apparently unlimited, neither strained nor subdued, modulated with artisan flair and delivered with effortless elegant ease. Her smile, contagious, infectious, beautiful and seductive. Her eyes, brilliant, dancing, alive, communicating a present moment here and now joy with every glance. Movement fluid, dynamic, melding uniquely with each individual rhythm, at times like silk in a spring breeze and at other times spontaneously released with playful abandon. A spirit youthful and sophisticated; optimistic and circumspect; joyful and introspectively soulful.

Her voice simply must be heard live to understand and appreciate the gift she embodies and delivers to her audience. Thanks Annette, Tony and Kip for a performance that exceeded all of my lofty expectations. All the best with The Colors In the Wheel.

Sounds like you enjoyed the concert. Enjoy your weekend :)

Deb, the Mercy Lounge is literally just that, a lounge with a superb sound system. The setting was intimate and we were standing just a few feet from the stage. I have yet to see a picture of Annette that does justice to how drop-dead gorgeous she looks in person. She wore a black sequined form fitting dress and her hair matched in perfect coordination. When you combine the dress, the hair with the eyes and the smile and then that undescrible voice, well, it was a night to remember. :-)

Thanks for the well wishes. Have a great weekend too Deb.

Ah, I missed the 'lounge' part. Wow, that changes the complexion, and does make it more intimate.

Y, you would have loved it. Very intimate setting with almost perfect acoustics and a sound system to match.

Deb, it was quite a treat to see a star of her level perform in such a small setting. Not only that, but she was out signing CD's for those who arrived early and taking photos with anyone who requested. When we arrived there were only perhaps twenty people in the whole place. I couldn't believe it was her at first. :-D

Highlight of the night, no doubt, was Annette's performance of Beautiful Spain.

Leigh, I was thinking of you the whole time. :-)

Hi, heard there was a cutie named Jack here from one of the girls at our cyber slumber party? Hope you're both having a great weekend! :)

Stopping by to give Trée and Jack a drive-by cyber slumber party comment and send lots of hugs to both of you. I hope you two are enjoying your weekend!

Monica, Jack is never far from this blog. In fact, I think he is asking who the new blogger babe visiting could be. Careful, Jack is a pretty slick, not to mention a handy fellow. :-D

(you'll have to forgive me, i'm sleepcommenting at a slumber party)

Karen, Jack and I love slumber parties. :-)

We've got 500 watts of Venus Hum rawking the walls and a little local single barrel to cover the bases. :-D

We say, bring it on. :-D

As Venus might say, "Something wicked this way comes . . ." LMAO

You have been holding out on me about Jack, why would you do that, I thought we were better friends than that, Gee. I guess it was I was still sort of new, maybe?

Anyway I came by from the cyber slumber party as well and wanted to say hello. Hope all is well with you Tree. By the way. Ms. Karen is behind all this.

3rd daughter, welcome to the home of Jack. He'll be here shortly. :-)

Mmm, looks like he is pretty fired up about this unexpected slumber party. I think he might be a slumber party virgin, so be gentle or rough as the case might be. :-D

Trée said...

Ms Vickie, I was holding Jack back for the right moment. He's careful not to over expose himself, but for you, my dear, he could make an exception or two. :-D

Jack had arrived. And he wanted to know, where are all the slumber party babes? :-)

In the words of Venus:

"The words of wordless May...
Sing a song to me
She stands as tall as trees these days
The words of wordless May
Dear Jesus make me simple
Strong as trees to sway
Give me arms wide open
With a beautiful way
Just like wordless May
If there were fields as pretty as you
I'd want to kiss them too
If there were fields as pretty as you
I'd want to kiss them too
If there were eyes so pretty and blue
I'd want to swim them too
If there were skies as pretty as you
I'd want to kiss them too"

Hey, slumber babes, if you're going to bring some heat, I, and Jack, say bring it! What say you?

Karen said...

I speak for all the girls... Yeah, Jack, bring it ON! LOL

Thanks for being a good sport and making our slumber party fun by replying back.

*HUGS* to you and Jack!

P.S. the Slumber party babes were on Yahoo!

:-) Sounds devine! So glad you had a wonderful time, even better than you expected.
Have been hoping to go shopping next weekend, on your recommendation picking up some of this music is top of my list - even more eager to go get it now.

Happy Monday sweet heart, x

Karen said...

I'm glad Jack enjoyed it as much as you did ;-)

Trée said...

Karen, no doubt about that. We'll have to do it again. :-)

Sweetest, their earlier album, Beautiful Sky, might perhaps be better than their current release. Sample songs from both. I love Wordless May and Beautiful Spain. To see them performed live was just something special, especially in such a small setting.

Trée said...

Keshi, I did. :-D

Okay, the next thing on my agenda is to go to a concert. You just reminded me what I've been missing the last little while and all of a sudden I have such a craving to go to a concert. Art, music, sharing... sigh :)
Thanks, Trée.

Trée said...

You're welcome Melly. After all you've been through I think a concert would be a good distraction and a reminder of the beauty embodied in the arts. So good to see you commenting. I hope you are easing back into a routine and your life is getting back to normal. Take care my friend. :-)

Nice review.

Trée said...

Terry, I do try. :-)

With Annette's performance, the review was easy to write.

Keshi said...

Trée said...

Yes my dear. As I mentioned before, the song reminds me of you and everytime I hear it, I think of you. :-)
