134. Meditation

Mairi overheard Taren on the bridge. "I wouldn't want to be her," he said. Wasn't the first time she had heard that. Really didn't bother her anymore, at least that's what she kept telling herself. Still, what choice did she have. Who else could she be? Where could she go to escape herself? She knew the answer. She knew the answer because she had asked herself the question a thousand times and the answer was always the same.

"Shen, you look troubled. Do you sense the Vollmonds? Have they picked up our trail?" asked Taren.

"No, something else. Something much closer to home. I can't put my mind on it, but all is not as it should be," replied Shen.

"Danger?"

"Not sure. But something is moving. Could be the female. I sense activity near her quarters, but the energy signature does not match," said Shen.

Mairi turned toward her holographic wall. "Springtime, mid-morning please," said Mairi. As the colors of the wall came to life, Mairi stepped out of her normal bodysuit. Reaching beside her bed she picked up her prized Jasperian cloak. The garment's lush softness against her smooth bare skin eased the stresses of the body, which in turn calmed her mind.

"What do you mean the energy signature does not match?" asked Taren.

"I mean, the energy pattern does not match any of the Hynerians," responded Shen, half paying attention to his young pupil and half floating on the aura of this unknown visitor.

"Kulmyk?"

"No. That is clear."

Mairi reached out with her hands as they appeared to melt into the holograph. The warm light, morning springtime sun, made her a bit sleepy but perfect for sliding into a deeper meditation. She closed her eyes and allowed the sound of the breeze to lift her mind on its gentle currents. She could feel her heartrate start to slow. So too the flood of thoughts begin to abate or so it seemed.

"If its not Kulmyk and not the Hynerians--"

"Taren, I've never felt a force like this before. Focus. Do you feel it?" said Shen, trying hard to conceal the excitement in his voice. Mairi was the find, but this, whatever this was, was an order higher. Intoxicating in the possibilities.

"Too far away for my abilities," said Taren.

"One thing concerns me," said Shen, ignoring Taren's disappointment. "Whatever it is, its moving toward Mairi. Get a detail to her quarters now!"

This image was done with Painter IX.5. Inspiration for the pose goes to the artwork of Henry Asencio, a true talent. Thanks to Y too for introducing me to Henry. Thanks sweetie. :-)

Oh my... I was just thinking to myself, I need a T fix...And here you are... I love this painting! Asencio is an amazing artist... I'm so glad you think so too! Kisses love! Y

Y, Asencio is amazing and I would have never discovered him without you. And now look, his influence, and your, is now in the story. :-)

I couldn't be more pleased... Now, didn't you say you were planning to pay Armstrong a visit soon?!! lol...

Trée said...

I'm not sure the boy stays home much. But a tour of the area would be nice. I hear they have good tex-mex in Austin. :-)

Oh honey...It's the best! You must come and visit!! ;-)

"I wouldn't want to be her,"

Like most growing up, I would complain about this problem or that problem. My Mom would always say "Believe me, you wouldn't want to trade your troubles for anyone elses". It has taught me not only to face my difficulties but to embrace heartache. A wonderful lesson from a wonderful woman.

Peace..............

Beautiful artwork

Helen, sounds like your mom is a very wise woman; that you have learned to embrace the heartache rather than ignore, deny or resist it tells me you are a very wise woman too.

Thanks for the kind words on the digital painting. These take considerably more time to do than my fractals. I like seeing my characters and I hope to eventually have a visual on all of them.

Keshi, I'm having a ton of fun learning to draw and paint with Painter. As always, thanks for your kind words.

Oh, and you're right. I've been waiting on the bridge for quite some time. Boxers and all. :-D

Asencio IS amazing!

And so is this piece of artwork. It's really gorgeous!

I love colour, but I would really love to see it in black and white, too.

Have a lovely afternoon :-)

I've come back to comment. I was compelled to because I wanted to show you something in a link.

When I was stateside a month ago (*sigh* a month!) I spent part of the day at St Augustines. In the town, they had a few art galleries. I visited them after a wonderful Mexican lunch.

(All very wonderful! *sigh* And I know I'm waffling!)

In one of the art galleries they had a few of Asencio's paintings. Two that really got my attention were called "Seduction and Surrender." The "seduction" piece is out of this world gorgeous!

Take a look at the link and you'll see it in the gallery. In front of my eyes was a stunning masterpiece. I would love to see you have a go with your Painter and see if you can capture somthing similar!

Leigh, that looks like a pose suitable for either Kyra or Yul. I may just have to give that one a try soon. :-)

I don't think I can ever get enough of Henry's work. His brush strokes and use of color give his work that unique dreamy, drop-dead gorgeous, very expensive look. I would love to see him at work, to see what brushes he uses, how he goes about it. For now, the galleries will have to do. :-)

Thanks for the kind words. My rendition of "Unveiling" --not by design-- turned the woman into a girl. LMAO. Happy accident or just not knowing what the heck I'm doing, either way, I think I like the child-like look of Mairi.

Hey, they are getting shorter!!!

Trée said...

Terry, :-D

I'm just teasing ya. See, this one is to be continued, so it will be longer when I get a chance to finish the prose. This painting took so long I didn't have the energy last night to write the chapter. Patience my dear. :-)

Is it still blazing hot in Calif? We will hit a 100 today, which I know would be a cool front for you guys. :-D

We are enjoying cool times again. The breeze blew in with the fog from the coast, and it is lovely weather in Walnut Creek. I'm sorry to hear about the heat out your way - no bike riding for you I hope. It isn't good to be that hot.

Trée said...

Just got in from a ride. In this heat I keep the rides to an hour or less. Anything more would be crazy. Heat can do funny things to the body. Makes everything work much harder, especially the heart. I notice a definite increase in my avg heartrate on the same ride when the heat goes up.

Just one little piece more - pleeeeeze? Ah - thank you :-)

haha @boxers n all! WOW Im half-way thru fainting...

btw u painted that? Gawwwwd ur good!

Keshi.

Trée said...

If you faint my dear, I'll be there to catch you. No worries, the boys would never let any harm come your way. :-)

Thanks for the kind words. I did paint this image using Painter IX.5. I used a painting by Henry Asencio as inspiration for the pose. Getting the initial drawing in correct proportion was the greatest challenge.

This painting is lovely, I knew there was to be something good when you took so long to put up this post.

what an absoluetly gorgeous picture! your talent just keeps growing my friend, the chapter is great (although a bit short :0) such a tease as always)
you just keep getting better and better.

hope all is well in your world and you are managing to stay cool (hugs)

Oh Tree!!!! That is breathtaking! Absolutely amazing work! The colors are amazing. The subtle shadows and highlights really work well against the perfect background!
So well done. You really have an eye and a talent!
I'm so very impressed.
I have to go back and look some more. :)

Oh Aggie, you always know just what to say. I think you should comment here more often--LMAO. Your kind words are always appreciated.

On this painting I used the Artists' Oils on standard paper. For brushes, I kept it real simple--I only used one--the wet oily brush. I used the wet oily palette knife to blend. Artists' Oils is new in this version of Painter and they behave very close to actual oils, which mean they blend and bleed and pickup color from the "paint" that is already laid. I understand this category of brushes much better than the pastels, watercolors, pens, crayons and all the rest. They also have a mixer palette that allows you to mix your own custom colors just like you would normally do when painting--tres cool.

Nice is not having to buy expensive oil paint and worry about clean up, although I do like the smell of oil paint. Mmm, maybe next time I'll open a tube or two just to create the right atmosphere. So, if I seem a little loopy, its from sniffing too much oil paint. :-D

Life is good Trace. I just need to read Melly's blog to know that all my problems are relatively petty and my blessings are great. Thanks for the kind and sweet words. I'm just having fun. :-)

Trée said...

Saffy, that is a very nice thing to say. :-) Hopefully, with practice, I will improve. Thanks, as always, for stopping by.

A*mazing artwork! - the jaw-dropping kind! Truly am stunned by how good it looks, but like I said last time, not surprised by the fact that you have managed to create something so amazing. You are a rarity, sweetheart :-)

Someone said taster somewhere, think it was Terry - that's every much what this chapter feels like, just a little glimpse of something more, just a slight touch and the great thrill comes from knowing there is more in the wings. There's always more in the wings :-) Never-ending mass of talent.

Miss you, X

So good to see you again my sweetest Sunshine. Missing you like crazy and thinking of you and your dad and praying everything goes well.

Your kind words always brighten my day and motivate me to continue to push the story and the artwork forward. I do have a little twist in the story that this post hints at--but like always, we'll have to wait until it becomes clear to me just exactly how to roll it out. :-D

Of course, I do like to tease, so maybe the next chapter is already written. :-D

Take care sweetest. :-)

Anonymous said...

Twist? Really? You don't say.. :-)

Trée said...

LMAO, well, there are twists, and then there are twists. I'll let you decide which kind this turns out to be. Actually, this twist has been in the air for quite some time. Just been waiting for the right time to unveil it.

Do me a favor please. Make sure you are taking care of you. Promise? :-)

Anonymous said...

I love the painting-like quality. You talent keeps surpassing itself :)

Trée said...

Blushing beet red. Thanks Chicky. :-)

Anonymous said...

Tre thats just awesome. Hugggggggz!

Keshi.

Anonymous said...

Why do I get the distinct feeling its the second kind of twist?

Absolutely. Anything for you :-).

Happy Friday, sweet stuff.

Let me just say my dear Sunshine, all, well maybe not all, that was incomplete will come together, the circle rounds the bend and delight and disappointment make their usual rounds always leaving one with a taste for just a little more. Wicked desire, naughty faux denouement with just a touch of decadent honest passionate playfulness looms. I promise. :-D

Imagine my delight to see another comment from you so soon. I do love the unexpected gifts. :-)

Very elegant image. I checked out Henry Asencio, and yes, he is very talented.

...and of course, your story becomes more and more captivating. I always anticipate the next installment.

Anonymous said...

Amazing. Wonderful. Astounding. I can't even form a complete sentence :) have a great weekend!

Trée said...

Oh Meg, you just have a very seductive way about you. :-)

Thanks for the incomplete sentences and the kind words. Both are very appreciated. :-D

Have a great weekend too darlin'.

Trée said...

Deb, thanks for stopping by and leaving me a few very kind words. I'm about halfway done with the image for the next chapter. Hopefully, as I get better at sketching and painting with Painter and Photoshop these images won't take quite as long as they are now. Although I have the image I'm still not sure how the dialogue needs to go. Of course, it always seems to work out somehow.

Have a great weekend Deb. :-)

What a sentence!, never mind what it means. I do so love the way your mind works. :-)
