144. Cold Hearts

Shen closed his eyes and looked deep. They were getting close. No time to investigate what went wrong but one thing was clear; guilty and innocent alike would taste the cold fire of space. Such a horrible way to die, thought Shen, lacking even a scintilla of compunction.

“Lieutenant, where is the girl?” queried Shen, his voice penetrating through the smoky corridors and cold hearts with equal measure.

“We’ve had a minor annoyance. She should be arriving within the minute,” responded a less than confident voice.

“Thank you lieutenant.” Shen turned slowly from the port window in his quarters to his loyal aide. Cerus had served him for more than a decade. Trusted aides were hard to come by. Shame I can’t take him with me, thought Shen.

+Cerus, prepare my personal pod for immediate launch.+

Jenni, glad you liked Shen. We will see a bit more of him, especially as he tries to understand Mairi's "gift."

Thanks for the kind words. :-)

Ms Vickie, Jack and I were delighted with the unexpected party. :-)

Thanks for the kind words. The story in going to move a bit faster before it slows down again. Lot is happening at the moment.

Meg, if you come down to Nashville we can do a private fitting. Not just any off the rack T-shirt will do for an image like this. I strongly believe in custom apparel. Hand fitted, of course. :-)

Your kind words are much appreciated. :-)

Hmmm, not sure I like him yet... he sounds a bit cold hearted. I'm guessing there's a reason behind it? Perhaps someone special will bring the warm heart out? Or am I just a hopless romantic? LOL

*HUGS* to you and Jack!

Karen, I'm not sure Shen can be changed. Time will tell. I would not want to be Mairi at this moment. :-)

Perhaps I need to have a discussion with Jack about this? ;-)

Well, you know, Jack is a very open-minded kinda guy. :-)

Strange, since I can't get enough of these posts, I have a soft spot for these short ones, just enough to wet the appetite. Haven't read the posts above yet, so hoping for more news on the fate of Mairi. Loving the frac, would love to be able to say more than that, something interesting, but it just is very appealing, draws the eye and holds it with colour, very nice.

Blogger is playing up, and will only let me publish under anonymous.

Sweetest, I'm doing much better now that I know you and your dad are doing well. I was a bit concerned with not knowing this week how things were going and my imagination started to go places I didn't really want it to go. Now that I know he is home and doing very well, and I have such delicious comments to savor from my dearest one, my weekend is off to a flying start! Missing you like you wouldn't believe.

Sweet Pea, Poppet and Me :-)
