Water Falling
There is a pain
beyond the reach of
oat and barley
beyond the science
of Bayer or Lilly
There is a pain
felt in the eye
but not seen
held in the heart
but neither heavy
nor heard
There is a pain
measured not of mile
nor clocked in chime
a pain with fingers
like the wind
nails long
cold
There is a pain
stillborn silent
solitary as rejection
A pain found
at the bottom of an empty
cup
A pain found in flowerless
stones
A pain embedded in
memories as vines
in brick
as grout
in cobble
as cobwebs
in corners
There is a pain
in an empty room
a chair not sat
a blanket not
pulled to the eyes
and feet out the
other end
There is a pain
in a phone
not ringing
in a phone
not answering
in the tears
one cannot see
in the hugs
one cannot give

They say that everything appears yellow to the jaundiced eye..
If there is pain inside you, there is pain in everything around you...
If there is happiness in you, those very things look happy...
But yes... causes do have their effects , as is evident in your last stanza
We do see the world as we are, not as it is. Today, I feel the pain of an empty bedroom, my son's, and I wonder how he is sleeping tonight, on his birthday eve after I had to raise my voice for the first time in his life. He doesn't live with me and his bedroom at my house sits without a light, as silent as a moonless sky. I wish my mind was as quiet.
George...Pick up that phone, Call again...
(((HUGS)))
Confluence. This post, together and it all, image, title, poem itself, gathers, force and more force, everything focused on one. And with each word the image becomes more poignant, as much as those that have the most, this image, I know, will tell the whole story whenever seen (at later dates), inseparable, image and words.
Aside: The title is representational of the communication, the surge created in response, heartfelt, had you reached out your hand, taken finger and placed it upon your cheek, tear felt upon tip, pain bottomless seen in the pools, I doubt it could be felt any closer, understood any better, that you are hurting.
I know not what to say in response, only that love like yours can be heard in the strongest of storms.
Exquisite piece of writing.
Love and big silent bear hugs.
I'm at a complete loss for words.
