296. Von's Journal #4

No one was really sure when Von made this entry since in a very unlike Von fashion, he forgot to log a date. Time estimated based on other entries: shortly after the Kyra Incident.

There is a stillness, like the moment before dawn, in which understanding is reached; and, like the breaking of dawn, surrender to the inevitability of all hell breaking loose.

Eyes do their best work when closed.

Things are never as they seem. How can they be since "to seem" is to separate, to create beyond, to work in interpretation--the playground of the non-Janus.

A bit of background on the first quote, which in a way, leads to the second and only tangentially to the third. Don't read any further if you would rather play with the ambiguities of this journal entry, but I will say this, what I'm about to share is not in line with why Von wrote what he wrote. Everything clear now? :-D

Here goes:

In the movie Underworld Evolution, which I am not recommending unless you want to frail Kate Beckinsale, there is a scene at the 38 minute mark where a kiss takes place followed by an unzipping of leather and a somewhat poorly shot and acted sex scene. Well, just prior to the kiss, or maybe it was just after, Kate closes her eyes and in that closing, in that brief moment of quiet, pregnant with mutual anticipation, is, in my mind, an unspoken understanding, a communication that goes straight to the heart, a connection of two in utter alignment, and the rest of the world drops away. The all hell part is what both will know is going to happen, and like the dawn, they can't stop it, nor do they want to resist what the natural order deems is the next act.

To be complete in introspection, the Kate scene is not the only one that inspired this quote, although it is the hammer blow without which the marble breaks differently.

Another actress, unknown to me, has a scene in which her face, like Kate's, reaches that "just before the dawn" alignment with pure absolute present moment sincere genuineness. I know that look. I want that look. That look where all that is there is all that is there and all that is there is all there is.

Oooh, yes, I can see the setting in my mind's eye. The intent of this journal entry is so implicit that too many words would spoil it.:)

S, I like harmonic implicity (my word) between consenting adults. My intuition tells me you know the way of implicity like the back of your polished pink nails of understated grace and elegance. Don't correct me if I am wrong. :-D

Serena said...

Of course you aren't wrong. Harmonic implicity -- I love that.

To see somethings, as they say, one has to look with the heart not the eyes. The mind is a filter through which the factual becomes fiction as we mould it within our understanding. The heart does not need reason. Complete clarity within the moment is not easy to achieve, heightened awareness is often not a conscious choice within that moment, though we may seek to achieve exactly that, generally it is influenced by consistency.
Von's journal entries are among favourites, true of this one too. :-)

Sunshine, Wolfe has two wonderful scenes that approach this point from different directions--or maybe I just imagine they do, on both points. LOL

(1) In the first case, the main character is with a woman of warm commerce and she knows he is thinking of someone else. In short, she tells him that his view of the other woman is just a construct, just an idea, that he didn't know her like he thinks he knew her and therefore, she can be just as good a construct in his mind--that she can be her, for they both would be just the work of his mind. (okay, I took the poetry of Wolfe and butchered it but I hope you get the idea)

(2) The main character is at a masquerade ball and he is interacting with a woman. They become cozy. He begins to take his mask off and she stops him. Says she doesn't want to risk the reality being less than her ideal, which would ruin the night and the experience.

You know, it might just be better to read Wolfe than have me do such a disservice to his ideas. :-D

Happy Birthday, sweet stuff, hope you have the most wonderful day today. Big love & Birthday hugs, x

Thank you Sunshine, the most spectacular one of all. I don't feel that I ever adequately thanked you for the t-shirt and the efforts you took to create, print and ship. So you know, I consider it a most magnificent bday gift. I've said this before and I'll say it again, you are special, different from all the rest and I love you to pieces for it.

Poppet and Sweet Pea :-)

Serena said...

Wishing you a happy, happy birthday with loads of love and kisses and hugs.:-)

Trée said...

S, thank you very, very much for those warm wishes and I do mean to hold you to your words, since I know you are a woman of passionate integrity, not to mention harmonic implicity. :-)

Autumn Storm said...

No need was there, just let me know still if it glows in the dark. :-D Thank you, thank you for that incredibly sweet comment at mine, I have to head out in a few, so I'll reply when I get back. Hope the day started off brilliantly, love, hugs, and more wishes. :-D

Happy birthday to you from a fellow Gemini, air signs are we.

Hope you have a great time,
will be back soon for another read.

Trée said...

Annie, thank you for the birthday wishes. Bloggers are some of the kindest and most thoughtful people I know and my life has been deeply enriched with the relationships I've been able to form over the last couple years. :-)

Serena said...

True, though I rather suspect that a certain Miss Beckinsale holds the world record in harmonic implicity.

So, have you had cake yet?:)

Magdalene-Sophie said...

"Eyes do their best work when closed".

Ah, I love this line. So contradictory.

And no, I do not want to frail Kate Beckinsdale :P

Magdalene-Sophie said...

oh, oh, and I left you a birthday note on Storm's blog. Go see~! *grin*

Autumn Storm said...

Have you had cake yet? and how hot was the heat of all those candles? ;-D

SIMON said...

Happy Birthday Mate!

Trée said...

Thank you Simon. We are just a few hours away from margarita time, so what I say tonight, well, I'm asking for forgiveness in advance. :-D

Trée said...

Sunshine, no cake yet. But with how hot it is today, I think it needs to be an ice cream cake. :-D

Trée said...

Hey Meg, thanks for the wishes. I'd prefer to have Kate all to myself, so no worries there. :-D

Trée said...

S, there is still room in my cake if you are thinking about making an entrance. ;-)

Serena said...

I was thinking about it but I just can't find a thing to wear.:-)

Trée said...

That would be okay too. :-D

Serena said...

LOL. Be careful what you wish for.:-)

Trée said...

I do plan to be careful and I do plan to ask. Anything else I should know? :-)

Serena said...

No, I think that pretty well covers it.:-)

Trée said...

Good, because the fun is in the uncovering. :-D

Trée said...

I think we need to go shopping. Black leather, whips, maybe a cuff or two. What are you doing in about an hour?

Serena said...

Isn't it kind of hot for leather? I'm up for shopping, though.:-)

Trée said...

Not for the indoor activities I have planned, although I should probably light a few less candles than usual. And if it does warm up, well, not that I need an excuse, but there is a scene I wouldn't mind playing out that would take care of any heating problems. :-D

Serena said...

So, despite wardrobe malfunctions and climatic anomalies, you had a good birthday, right?:-)

Trée said...

S, I had a [censored] fantabulous birthday! Thank you my lovely for the cake, I think I'm liking red velvet more and more. ;-)

Lindsey said...

I missed your birthday!!!!! :o(

Forgive me?

I hope you had a wonderful day!

Trée said...

Thank you Linny. I had a wonderful birthday with wishes from more places than I can count. I was even serenaded from across the pond. Now what more could I ask for? Well, I've got a coupon for that. :-D

I don't know what this is...a story? Something from a game? A movie?

But did you write it? There is something beautiful about what Von writes. The stillness, the way you describe, it's so beautiful. Eloquent words.

There is something profound about this. I keep rereading it.

Wow.

Rain-drop said...

Is this your writing? or it is from a book or movie?

Von's writing from his journal...is very powerful and intense. The words are so provocative and eloquent. The way he describes the stillness...is fascinating. It makes me want to step into the stillness. I don't fully understand what this is all about, but it's so amazing, just, wow...it's profound. I can't explain how, or why, it just...is.

I love this. :D

Trée said...

Thank you Rain-drop. I did write what you see here and it is part of "The Story." I should probably do audio for this chapter to explain in detail exactly what I saw when I put those words into Von's journal. Then again, my ideas may be less than your ideas and I would hate to spoil the greater truth. ;-)

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for commenting. :-)

Trée said...

Oh Rain-drop, you are making me blush now. :-)

I've been writing this story for a little over a year and a half now. My profile gives you a very short synopsis of The Story. If I had to summarize it in a single sentence, it's a love story, taking place on several levels. I am very flattered with your comments; a wonderful way for me to end my night. Thank you again for the very, very kind words. :-)

Keshi said...

lolz as if u dun get enough hugs from so many beautiful girls ard the world :)

HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGZ again Tre!

Keshi.

Trée said...

Keshi, there is no such thing as too many hugs from too many beautiful and sexy women. Have you got anything more than just a hug? :-D

Inside our hands, outside our hearts said...

"There is a stillness, like the moment before dawn, in which understanding is reached; and, like the breaking of dawn, surrender to the inevitability of all hell breaking loose", brilliantly put!
