441. A Thousand Wishes
Ariel stood on a small stool behind Em, silver brush in hand, her small hand stroking as if pulling cotton candy, her blue eyes about as wide as if she were. "Emy, you know what I did this morning?"
"Tell me my little angel. What did you do this morning?"
"I held my last willow flower and I blew you a thousand wishes."
"Whatever did you wish for?"
"That your heart would smile again." Ariel kept brushing as if the wishes were matter of fact. Then added, "You know what?"
"What?"
"My wishes always come true."
Em turned and wrapped her arms around Ariel.
"Emy?"
"Yes."
"I can't breathe."
Em started laughing. "I'm so sorry, but that is about the sweetest thing anyone has done for me."
Ariel poked Em in the shoulder and declared: "See."
"What? What do you see?"
"It's working!"
Giggle revolved around smile like a lacquered primrosed filly around a merry-go-round, each the world to the other within the moment of a ride on a thousand wishes.

Awwww....
You're making my cheeks hurt again with how big I'm smiling reading this.
Too sweet, Mr. Tree.
xo
and
:-D
Hope you had an awesome time.
I did.
Strumper, we had the time of our lives. There were two opening acts. The first, I don't recall who they were (not worth remembering quite frankly other than the lead female singer was just on the other side of hawt!). Then Against Me! came out and delivered an electrifying energy for forty-five minutes. Fun to watch. So far, we were sitting.
Then the Foo came out. The crowd went wild (the auditorium was sold out and packed--didn't see a single empty seat) as Dave walked out looking like Jesus among his congregation. We didn't sit down again until some two hours later when our butts graced the cold seats of my car. So, four hours of music and about as close to a spiritual experience one can have at a concert. Was also very nice to be there with C at this first concert. He wanted to sit with his friends and not his dad, but the fact that we were there together and that now those memories are ours, together, forever, beyond the reach of thief or natural disaster is something I think twenty years from now I will remember as "what life is all about."
I've since downloaded about twenty-five of their songs--some twice to get the studio and live versions. I've fallen in love with Everlong--the live version in particular.
As always, thanks for the kind words on the chapter. (you did? LOL--I was hoping you would) :-D
I love you. How could one not adore the heart and mind and soul that writes a chapter such as this. :-) With Em and Ariel, as opposed to Kyra and Papa, Ariel in the teacher most often. Such purity and sweetness, such a loving heart though she has known great loss recently, not just being uprooted, which she took so well, from her home and friends but then to lose her greatest constant thereafter, her mother. As sweet a child as ever were, so full of love and care for others. Em has found a friend in Ariel. :-) Sweetest heart, I did right to give you that name. So very lovely a chapter.
Safe journey, H
Thank you Sweetest. As soon as I saw this imagine, I knew the chapter it would support. Nice to know the foundation of this story is alive and well--an image driven saga. :-)
Leaving tomorrow--about a ten hour drive. My car is getting old--wish me a safe journey. :-D
This image. :-D
:-) So glad to hear you made a great memory.
I did. :-D Doubles, x
Magical! As wishes are!
You are a big softy at heart.
Too much for my own good it seems. ;-)
Miladysa, as always, your warm and kind presence here makes me feel as if my blog is like an old intimate pub in a small coastal town, where the woodwork is centuries old, the pint glasses crystal clear and the sweaters made of course wool. Thank you my friend. :-)
Well, I'm new here, don't know the backgrounds and all, and it even made me smile, too!
Nice.
Safe travels, then.
Joan, details are overrated. Glad to have you visiting. Read the Who's Who if you must, but most who venture there are never to be seen again. :-D
Hope to see you around again. Thanks for visiting and taking the time and making the effort to leave a kind word--always appreciated here. :-)
what a beautiful multi-sensational experience. well done. thank you. i'll be back!
Thank you GreenDivaMeg. Hope to see you again. :-)
Wow. First time here and what a great post to read. I am interested and will have to plunder this site and find out what it is about. Gosh, that post was lovely - Jennifer
Jennifer, thanks for the kind words, always appreciated here. Ask if you have any questions on the story, but don't worry to much about trying to figure out what is going on. It is a bit like a soap opera in that you can drop in any time and on any post and feel like you never missed anything. :-D
There is a Who's Who on the story on my sidebar if you want to take a deeper plunge into what the story is about. I'd recommend just following along for a few postings and see if you like the writing, the images and the wonderful love shared in the comments by some warm and wonderful bloggers. :-)
"each the world to the other within the moment of a ride on a thousand wishes" - such a beautiful expression !
Hazaaron Khwahishein aisee ki har khwahish pe dum nikle
Bohot Nikle mere armaan lekin phir bhi am nikle
( There are a thousand wishes in my heart and each wish is life threatening... A lot of my wishes were fulfilled, yet they remained ever less...)
I blow you a wish Tree, that may your wishes come true.
Mona, I always feel it is my great pleasure each and every time you visit. Thank you for the well wishes. I will use them wisely. :-)
Pretty pretty fractal, totally describes my mood now.
Trée
You made my eyes leak! :)

(Apologies for the deleted comments - I don't think I am awake yet! lol)
Your art is very inspiring...but, curiously, how did you ever get people to know you were here? I have a blog about some life altering experiences and no one ever leaves messeging. Just curious...
A bright spot in my day!!
deena
Deena, to have to leave that comment makes my day complete and it has just started. If I was able to make your heart smile I feel honored and feel as if everything I do on this blog is worthwhile. Thank you for sharing a kind word. You remain and will remain in my thoughts and prayers along with your wonderful and supportive family.
Grean, thanks for the kind words on the images. As for readers, I've not always had as many as I have today and there have been stretches in the three years of this blog when only one or two people were visiting and commenting. I think the first three months I had my blog, I had nary a visitor and comments were as rare as a blue moon. Everyone who blogs wants to be read and sincerely engaged on their blog. Take an active interest in what other bloggers are doing. Leave them sincere and engaged comments--comments that show you are interested in them and what they are writing, not comments designed only to hook them back to your blog. In time, you will find some of those bloggers will visit you and some of those will find what you are doing of interest and some of those will leave a comment and then some of those will become regular readers and commenters. If you blog long enough, you will see readers come and go, some longer and some shorter in their stay. You will also have times where you feel like throwing in the towel. Stay the course. You will find an audience. Thanks for stopping by. I'll see you soon. :-)
Miladysa, I hope those were happy tears. :-)
Thank you Saffy. :-)
Of course :)
awwww, I am glad I happened on you. This is going to be fun. And a fellow Vol! I'm still trying to learn my way around Blogger but I'll try bookmarking your page so hopefully I can find my way back for more of your story and artwork. :D
Wamblings, thank you for those very kind words. Welcome to The Story and to DT. Don't worry too much about trying to follow the story--just take each post/chapter as they are written. Oh, and I love musicians. Please tell me more about your background. :-)
Through the eyes of a child. So pure, innocent and sincere. A thousand wishes, such a wonderful concept. Very uplifting. Thanks Trée :-)
So, glad to hear you rocked out.
Not sure what you've downloaded as of yet, but if you dig on 'Everlong,' you should look into finding a live, acoustic version done on the Howard Stern show with just Dave an' his guitar.
It is the best version of that song you will EVER find.
One of the things I love about Dave and the Foo is their artful turn on a good cover song.
Check out their version of Prince's 'Darling Nikki.'
I guess you could say she was a sex fiend...
Anyhow, of COURSE, I had a good time.
Did you expect any less?
:-D, Mr. Tree
If you like those F-Fighter songs...I'll recommend more to you if you'd like.
They're a talented bunch, including the blonde Jesus on skins, Taylor Hawkins.
And, I wish you a safe journey, to wherever you are traveling.
Be safe, have fun, enjoy yourself.
xo
Isn't blogging wonderful:?
Such beautiful people.
Okay,I've read just this one post and I'm hooked!

simple yet it enlightens the soul
congratulations tree
Once again, fantastic art! Much appreciated.
This place is full of magic and whimsies! Well done--what a neat concept.
Just beautiful!
Okay--so Blogger ate my comment, so I apologize if you get two in your email, but it said this:
Aww! Tree, are you in my brain!? These are the kinds of wishes I always make for other people. :)
This actually reminds me of one of my best friend's daughters soooo much.
Thanks for making this a beautiful Monday :)
--snow
That was very well written. I like how you created the drama through dialogue and kept me interested. Very nice!
Thanks Josh. Kind words are always appreciated. Hope to see you around again. :-)
Snow, you always know just what to say to make me smile. Thank you my ninja elf. :-)
Thanks Blueflip. :-)
You're welcome Get Paid. :-)
Joyful, what a wonderful name and inspiring blog. So glad you stopped by. Thank you for the kind words. :-)
Piercing, thanks for taking the time to leave a very nice comment. Nice to see after a ten hour journey. Thank you. :-)
Susan, you are making me blush now. :-D
Thanks for stopping by. :-)
Goatman, no doubt. Not sure I would still be blogging after three years if it weren't for a few wonderful and loyal bloggers.
Strumper, you are one of a kind. Now on your knees--or is that me? :-D
Deb, you are very, very welcomed. :-)
Strumper, by the way, I have two versions of Everlong. The original album release and a live version on the Skin and Bones CD. The Live version is head and shoulders better, almost to the extent that it is an entirely different sounding song, played slower and more soulfully than the original album version. I'll look for the Stern version. Thanks for the heads up. :-)
I am impressed with the blog. Can any one teach me.......
I am a violinist. Classical. Actually I'm kinda sucky cause I was an adult beginner. Maybe I will post some stuff sometime about my musical beginnings. Anyway, I'm a really good teacher. You know the old saying, "Those who can't teach." *wicked grin* Last year I had a devastating bicycle accident and destroyed my left shoulder. My playing is worse than ever. The shoulder is as well now as it will ever get so I need to discipline myself to practice and get back what I can of what I had. Hmmm, bike accident. There should be some humor in there somewhere I could get into a post.
Wamblings, so sorry to hear about your accident. Do you ride a 'bike' as cyclist (Lance Armstrong) or a Bike as in Hog (John Travolta)? I cycle (as in Armstong, just not as fast or far), just got a custom bike I'd been waiting three and a half years for (Sachs). About three years ago I was in a nasty bike accident too. Going too fast down a hill with one more curve than I thought was there. Had to have an operation but all my working parts are, ahem, working and I've got a couple of innocent looking scars to mark the occasion.
The violin. Don't meet many violin players. You must have strong fingers. :-)
It's my turn to get on MY knees this time, Mr. Tree.
Maybe we should start keeping a tally.
:-D
Strumper, that is SO awesome. I mean like SO Frailing generous. I won't let you down. Promise. :-D
I SO knew you wouldn't.
There my cheeks go... hurting again.
But, in that, oh-it-hurts-SO-good kind of a way.
I'm thinking plaid school-girl pleated skirt sans panties, maybe in the computer room after hours. :-D
That was just awesome, you know.... I really like the story......
Keep in touch.... I'm new here....
Janisha, thanks for the very kind words. Glad you liked this chapter and I hope to see you around again. :-)
I cycle as in Armstrong too (even have the same kind of trainer he used in my living room). I have a Cannondale road racer. No I've never raced. I went too many inbetween years not riding at all so I still don't like the leaned over position of a modern racing bike. For all the years I was raising children I had an over large mens ten speed and had a few accidents on it but nothing worth reporting, just enough to make me very cautious. A couple years ago I got the Cannondale used. Its my size and totally sweet. Got the shifters in the hand brakes. Anyway, we go up to Cades Cove usually at least once each summer and ride that loop on a Saturday morning. So August 5, 2006 I was most of the way around the loop, had raced down like the next to last big hill and was powering into the next one. Two joggers were ahead of me side by side, plenty of room to pass. I called out "on your right" and the fellow sidestepped right in front of me. I swerved to go between and he must have rethought what he'd heard and sidestepped again, right in front of my wheel. I caught his leg. Took him DOWN! :P Silly fool never once looked back. Anyway, I catapulted off my bike. Busted my helmet, plowed pavement with my left shoulder, smashed the top of the humurus. Also busted my right thumb (maybe hung up on the brake/shifter as I was going over?). A week later they pinned my shoulder back together and I've got a great, totally sexy scar there on the front of my shoulder which is only now starting to fade a little at the top (I have thought of getting a dragon tattooed wrapped around the scar and biting the top of it but the husband is against me getting a tatt). I spent 7 weeks in a sling and with my right hand also incapacitated (followed by 6 months of PT). Started back teaching violin lessons second week of September cause if you don't teach you don't get paid. Within a few weeks I was proping my elbow on the table, perching a tiny violin on my shoulder, manually getting the fingers over the finger board, and demonstrating things to my young students. By Christmas I was leading our annual concerts with my full sized violin. The shoulder and thumb still hurt. I think Uncle Arthur has come to reside in them both. I don't practice like I should so I've not regained my former skill. (OMG, beautiful pink sunrise out my window) But, playing was never my forte. I've never been a performer. I'm a great teacher (hehe that's my story and I'm sticking to it) though and would be an even better teacher if I would discipline myself to practice. LOL I really should write an actual post about my misadventures on the bicycle. Of course, now you've already read it all.
Wamblings, ouch. I've crashed enough to know exactly what that moment of "no return" feels like and that moment when everything stops and blood is everywhere and you have no idea how bad you are hurt because pure adrenalin is coursing through your veins like lava. I've got three bikes (Giant--semi-retired, Bianchi and my new Sachs). You're making me want to get out on the road. :-)
Take care. :-)
Such a heart warming scene! And a beautiful fractal, with the feathered wishes and its implied infinity.
You have a unique and captivating blog, Tree. And thank you for your visit :).
Cléa, your heartfelt and kind words are very much appreciated. Thank you. :-)
Wow. Fresh, pure, engaging with amazing art work.
Thank you Jan. Kind words are always very much appreciated. :-)
