Houston
To the city of Houston I applaud your leadership in this time of darkness. To the leaders and people of Houston, your heartfelt generosity has been a light in the night. When I think of the best of our country, right now, I see Houston. Thank you.

I sincerly hope Texans keep their humble station in this. I've seen so much good in this state in the last four days. Ft. Worth, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Beaumont. It's impressive. Everyone I know, everyone I work with, has given money, time, material possessions. None are concerned with themselves. I pray it lasts. I pray.
I am pleased with the Houston government and the efforts they have made (though as you saw in my blog I am extremely displeased by the words of some citizens there). Dallas, which I can speak more personally about since I live there, has been wonderful too; the medical center that I work at continues to take in hundreds of patients, and hotels in the area are bumping people (through polite means) who really don't "need" rooms in order to accommodate Katrina refugees. It pleases me to see the city assisting in this manner.

Texas has responded and we will not forget who came to our aid.
