387. Come Sail Away

“If I might ask, what made you think of the spider?” asked John.

Bravo,” said Kyra. “Lot of memories in those last few hours, thinking we were going to die. Hard not think of what could have been.”

“Do you ever wonder how—“

“How I carry on? How any of us keep going?”

“Yes.”

“Some days, like today, and don’t ask me to explain it, maybe it’s just a general weariness that has accumulated like layers of dirt, I don’t know, but on days like today, days when I should be happy for our good fortune—“

“You don’t feel like—“

“Carrying on.”

The two stood silent for several minutes.

Kyra spoke. “You know what it is about Bravo that I have a hard time shaking?”

“What?”

“When we were hit and I saw Von, saw his face . . .”

“What about it?”

“John, I saw a peace that I don’t think I’ve seen since. And there are days when I just want that peace, where I feel everything I know just quietly slipping away and—“

“And you don’t have the strength to hold on.”

“Yes.”

“And you start to let go.”

“Yes.”

“And then something happens.”

“Yes.”

“Like a little girl who believes.”

“Yes.”

Blissful sigh. :-) To come to the end of two such marvellous chapters, though this second chapter touches upon several things, one comes out the other side feeling a state of bliss, and blessed to have witnessed those moments of sharing and learning from one another.

John, though one would never have wished his fate upon him, now is in much the same position as the original crew members, he has lost his home, Cait, the future he had thought was his. Hynerian he may not be, but with recent events, he is now not just a full character but a part of the inner circle.

Beautiful chapters, beautiful images - beautiful mind.

Hope is like a silver lining against the darkest of cloud..Hope that came out of Pandora's box...

It is nice to see Ariel influencing Kyra with her believing...

Like I said, we learn a lot from children...

Or as Wordsworth said..child is the father of Man

Trée said...

A return to childhood and all that is good. Sometimes we all need a gentle reminder of what we have lost. :-)

Always nice to see you stopping by Mona. :-)

Good Thursday morning to you, Tree...

I understand that desire for peace sometimes, like what they saw in Von's face... Thank goodness it isn't too often :)

Wow...the words to this piece just really speak to where I've been at these last few months...

Surrendering
Letting Go
Peace
Maintaining a childlike innocence that translates into TRUST :)

BEAUTIFUL work, once again Trée

The writing is, as always, fabulous and the images are gorgeous. Your choice of song fits perfectly, too.:)

The fractal looks like an Indian Bride's necklace!:D

ooooH.. how that piece of jewel hurts your neck! I hate jewelry !

Mona said...

sorry dear, sometimes I write such 'bakwas' in your comment box, but I write what comes to the mind the first thing when I come over here!after reading your posts or looking at your fractals! :D

Trée said...

Mona, I wouldn't have your comments any other way. :-)

SJ, always a joy to have you stop by. Thanks for the kind words. Are you primrosed yet?

Trée said...

Annie, I'm in the midst of another long road trip. Been in Vegas the last several days. Head to Austin tomorrow. No rest for the weary. Thanks for checking in on me. :-)

Trée said...

Snow, so nice to see you visiting and to have a comment. I wasn't sure you were stopping by, so your comment is like ice cream to me. :-D

Trée said...

Grace, this piece reflects how I feel at the moment more than I would like to admit. Sometimes you just get so tired of bullshiott that is unnecessary, the thought of just walking away enters your mind.

Stargazer said...

Hey Trée, enjoy Vegas!

Serena said...

Nah, not yet. I think I need a primer.:)

I love it when you talk dirty. ;-) Sweet dreams of horses on beaches, of walking in the mountains and by the lake, of sipping coffee with a view of the sea, of time that is only yours,..., dreams that'll make feel when you wake as though you've been on a fortnight's R&R&Fun break. :-)

Safe, pleasant journey to Austin, x

Deb, I believe there are four unique American cities, and Vegas is one of those (New York, New Orleans and San Fran). Was too tired and stressed to really enjoy the city but I do have a good idea of what I'd like to do and see when I have the time and energy. :-)

Trée said...

SJ, step this way--I'll prime you. :-D

Trée said...

Sweetest, Moi? What did I say? :-D

Hey, wasn't I just at the airport yesterday? You know, if I had a girl in every city all this travel might not be so bad. I think we need to start local groupie chapters--I'll give you the list of cities to start. ;-)

Trée said...

You know, because it doesn't [censored] itself, to quote a friend of ours. :-D

Constance said...

Good Monday morning to you, Tree ! Hope that the road trip is successful !

Trée said...

Annie, me too. Running like a wild man trying to tie up a hundred loose ends in my fews hours before heading back on the road. I've got four candidates to interview tomorrow in Austin. Fingers crossed we find the one we want. Otherwise, I'll be going back. Good Monday to you too. Thanks for checking in on me. :-)

snowelf said...

Aw, thanks, Tree. :) I do come by to see the art, I just don't always comment--but I shall remedy that.
I love the art today too!

Snow, good to know. The art at the header today is from one of my favorite chapters Playground of Angels

You don't need to know the story to enjoy this one, which is really what I can say of most of my chapters. If you have a chance, this one is worth the read. :-)

Overheard prior to arrival. I would assume some snoot has been surrender from dim light to bowel darkness:

"Space midnight black, infinite, does not flow. Forget every movie you've ever seen. Space doesn't frailing flow. There is no beginning and no end. Travel the same route fifty times and it never frailing looks the same. Never. Ever. Frailing never, ever. Do you frailing hear me? Space will suck the hope from your veins as a vampire with blue sky cold fangs. Look in any direction. Nothing looks as it did before. There is no end. Just closet black upon more ice black. Cave black forever frailing tunnel black upon graveyard black on top of ex-girlfriend black. That is frailing space. And that is our life. Now give me another shot of forgetfulness."

Autumn Storm said...

Any idea who was listening and to whom? :-)

Welcome back, Poppet, hope the trip went very well, x

Trée said...

I could be wrong, but I think this is an inebriated John talking to an equally inebriated Rog. :-D

Now that the stress of the action has passed, the loss of Cait is starting to surface.

Whow! Love it!

Autumn Storm said...

Been thinking about him a lot, bless him, he's had so much to deal with and then there was Taboodja and so on so soon afterwards that he's hardly had time to devote to himself. Over snoot with Rog may well be the best environment for John to move toward acceptance. I can just imagine them too, cracking up at least once at the snoot-coloured irony of all the danger they have faced in recent months finally catching up with Cait. They may yet know each other well, but they know each other well enough, thrown together as they have been through a number of intense experiences already, to be firm friends. Handsome friends. Can you imagine these two out on the town together, what a devastating pair they'd make. :-) Between you and me, I have a secret fantasy of a threesome with these guys. ;-D

I was just wondering how Zach (a friend of mine) was doing in the World Clipper Race when I was coming over here and saw the title of your post. How apt, I thought. Also hoping he has the strength to finish the grueling race.

How's ur Christmas preparations coming along?

Trée said...

Miladysa, I've always felt the coldest days are not grey, but crystal clear blue; colder even than the coffin black of night.

Trée said...

Sweetest, I think I'm going to make friends with a little light rum and perhaps listen in on a snoot educated conversation or two. :-D

Trée said...

Saffy, the last think on my mind right now is Christmas. I haven't bought the first present and don't think I'll have a moment to even give it a thought until after the 21st.
