When the darkness came
and our guests left
you cleaned the dishes
brought me a glass of wine
and held my hand
but what I appreciate the most
is you said not a word
kissing my forehead
nestling my torso
one leg over the other
my chest your pillow
before the dance of fire

That's nice. I almost feel like I'm there. Plus it sets the reader up to use their imagination. :-)
Beautiful. It's not words that matter to another person, it's actions. A smile. A kiss. The touch of a hand....

Athena, I'm trying to say more by saying less. Thanks for the kind words. :-)
Elise, I couldn't agree more. Always nice to see stopping by. :-)
This is it, the meaning of it all, life and love and relationship, togetherness, touch, stillness (quiet love, wordless support, simple being), utterly beautiful, in words written and meaning conveyed. Regardless of all else, to have this is to have one completeness. Port. Soo beautiful.
Thank you dearest Sunshine. I suppose I am just a simple poet, painting simple scenes with my watercolor words. Sweet dreams when you get that far. :-)
Here "was" the last stanza, which ended up on the cutting room floor:
as your eyes looked at me
as upon the dawn
and upon the dusk
as everything before
and everything after
This is sweet,
sensual and
sublime.
And as Autumn Storm stated, "quiet love"...so true!
very nice!
