TAPS
I generally watch very little television. Several months ago, however, I stumbled upon an episode of Ghost Hunters and I've been hooked on the weekly show ever since. That all paranormal activity is not evil is perhaps the one interesting and unexpected bit of data I've learned.
The image above is dedicated to all those "good" spirits out there and to my Wednesday night addiction. Peace to everyone on this holiday weekend. Be safe and please visit Helen as to why that is so important.
Update: This Saturday I go on my first official investigation. I couldn't be more excited.

Wow, what a neato image. What program(s) do you use to make these?
Keep up the interesting work :)
Xeen, this image was created with Chaoscope and the one below with Apophysis. Both programs are freeware.
Thanks for the kind words and for stopping by. Hope to see you around again. Peace.
Beautiful image
& they always match your words/theme perfectly :-)
Sweet dreams, x
Thanks Sunshine. I suppose in part, because the image comes first, there does seem to be a nice match most of the time. I think if I tried to create an image to match the prose, you would see less matching. :-D
Your comment makes me wonder how Kyra is doing? Hope you have a great afternoon sweetest of sweet ones. :-)
Thank you. Hope the brandy and ginger did the trick :-) and that you have a wonderful Sunday, x
Did help me sleep better. :-D
Beautiful image. I also watch 'Ghost Hunters'. I like it because they are down to earth investigators. There isn't a lot of fluff; they just go in and do their thing. I never thought paranormal activity was evil, it's just stuff we don't understand.
Thanks Deb. Before Ghost Hunters I never really put much thought into "ghosts" and so my very basic orientation was from the movies and ghost are always the bad guys in the movies. I too like the down to earth nature of Grant and Jason--very likeable guys. They never try to make more of something than it is.
Great images. Who says people need C4 to make nice ones! I really like it.
Trench, not sure I know the reference to C4, but I do appreciate your kind words. Glad you liked the images and hope to see you around again. Peace.
Paranormal activities are as varied as people. Good, bad, and indifferent. That's another good thing about TAPS: they don't try and quantify everything as a "ghost" or whatever. It's just something we don't understand. (Yet.)
Oh, and great image!
Thanks for the kind word on the image Wontar. Glad to see you and Deb are enjoying Ghost Hunters as much as I am. I too appreciate that Jason and Grant don't try to force evidence and are more than willing to admit when they don't have anything. Gives them credibility I think.
Anybody remember when the TAPS guys billed themselves as "Doctors" with phoney internet accreditation? Anyone remember when they did jump on everything as a 'ghost' or 'demon'? Anyone remember when they were arguing with other groups about their stances?
I do.
I supposed they learned and for that they deserve credit... but they, themselves, have never credited those who helped them by complaining about their crappy work in the begining.
Anon, I must admit I've come to the party late and have no knowledge of the things you speak of. Wontar or Deb, if you know more on this, please feel free to jump in.
Ghost Hunters is a good show. We've been watching it since it's inception. I keep thinking television should be paying them enough that they shouldn't have to be Roto Rootering anymore. LOL But there's a bit of charm in that too.
I've spent years and years reading and watching such things. I've been shying away from it these last 6 months - but I still want to watch these guys. Down-to-earth is their whole appeal.
What do you suppose is our need to believe in such things? I don't know if I do but I can't dismiss that, like any myth, there must be something to substantiate the concept. I think Einstein was closer than anyone to figuring it out.
PS - please do not watch that horrible show "Most Haunted". That British quack should be pummelled by the voices in his head. Pththth
Morning Aggie. I laugh everytime I see them in their Roto Rooter garb, but it does add a certain charm to the atmosphere. Seems the Roto Rooter folks are very happy for the pub these guys are bringing them and perhaps are paying them extra to stay in "uniform" and make occasional appearences "on the job." LMAO
My own belief is we all want to believe there is something more than just the life we see with our eyes and hear with our ears. Paranormal activity, perhaps, fuels that hope, or gives us some sense that there is more than just this life as we know it. My two cents.
Thank you Tree. Very much.
Peace..........
You are very welcome Helen. Peace my friend.
Oh...my....gosh! That is the most beautiful image. Wow! New favorite! Never heard of Ghost Hunters, I must check it out.
Oliviah, their season finale is this Wednesday night where they investigate the hotel Jack Nicolson made famous in The Shining.
Thanks so much for your kind words Oliviah. I could say the same for so many of your works and your latest is nothing short of spectacular. Peace my friend. :-)
In response to "Anon"...
Yes, they did once use silly ULC (or the like) titles of "Doctor"... but in their defence, they did drop that bit before going after The Rev. Dr. Dave and The Rev. Dr. Sharon... I think, in honesty, Sue might have had something to do with that.
...anyway... moving on...
Yes, they have "flip-flopped" on a few things they did seem to hold "sacred" at their early points, but people learn and grow... and there is room to do that for ANY investigator/researcher.
Before their show (early 2000 or 2001), they were a little... well... I can't say Grant and Jason were as my correspondance with them was extremely pleasant, but some of their crew were VERY arrogant (I received some REALLY nasty e-mails,) but from what I've read (sadly, we don't have the proper channel in our "cable kit" to watch the show,) they've matured and are doing decent work.
Hey, I'll be the FIRST person to admit TAPS was a pain in the backside... but I have a lot of room in my noggin for letting people grow on a personal level... and let's face it, "we" took a lot of grief from TAPS before their TV show if you've been "into the study" for a few years... which I believe you have...
My only complaint, and it's NOT just with them but other's as well, is I wish they'd give credit where credit is due... I wish they'd state their references... I mean, we've referenced and thanked everyone from CSICOP to Stan Freidman and all points in between (Harry Price, The SPR, The ASPR, Britain's Ghost Club, ad nauseum...) but that's a personal thing... but yeah, in the items on their site that you can tell did came from "us", I wished they'd included a "thanks" or a reference to those who we used as resources for the original... but honestly, this is MY only complaint... and that's (again) not solely a TAPS issue...
Either way, I hear good things about 'em, so if you're the "other Canuck" blogger I think you are (ie: Not Sue or meself,) just let it go... people like them and they're entertaining. Isn't that the most important thing for them to be? If they've grown into better investigators/researchers in the process, more power to them!
Personally, I've always had good communications with them... and yes, have a read... they are WAY better than they were a few years back.
Perhaps I can "BitTorrent" their show(s) and check 'em out...
(Sorry other bloggers... but I hate to see a slagging that realistically, isn't due... and isn't necessary...)
Matthew, thanks for the response to Anon. I discovered Ghost Hunters just a few months ago, and for me, the show is entertaining and in the time that I've been watching it, Grant and Jason seem to be quite fair in how they judge the evidence. Again, thanks for stopping by and taking the time to answer the charges by Anon. Much appreciated.
On a side note, one of my employees has a "ghost" in her studio home. She had the Tennessee branch do an investigation this weekend. I can't wait to see what they turned up. Seems the very old building my friend lives in had a child who died by drowning in the house many, many years ago and this child has been seen and heard by everyone, including my friend, who has lived there. If they found anything of interest I'll post it here.
Thanks Trée and please do let us know what happens! Always love to hear about "new haunts"... well, new to me! :)
Matthew, I'll know in the morning what if anything they found. I've been listening to her stories and the things she has experienced since being in the house for weeks now. Although this "ghost" seems quite benign, I'm just not sure I would be willing to co-habitate with the unexpected sights and sounds, especially when I'm alone in the house at night. She did talk to my wife over the weekend and seemed to be spooked to the point that she didn't sleep in the house over the weekend.
Matthew, seems the investigation was a prelim to determine if a full investigation was warrented. In short, the team is going to come back to do a full 24 hours.
In the prelim, unexplained footsteps were heard and recorded in addition to the sound of a marble being thrown in the room. Other noises were also heard that could not be accounted for. I'll do a followup post after the full investigation.
Very cool! Many thanks!
Weird about the "marble" though... you'd be surprised at how often we here the same thing about some sites... either like "a" marble or "a few" marbles being rolled about... it seems to be something ALMOST quite common... I'll pass this along to Sue who I believe was and possibly is looking into these "weird sound" reports.
Thanks for keeping us up to date!
My pleasure Matthew. I've had my friend contact the Tennessee Ghost Hunters to also look into the matter. There was also a photo taken that shows an orb. Since I haven't seen it and I'm not real big on the "orb" photos I didn't say anything. A poster was also moved that can't be accounted for on the surface.
I did ask my friend if I could come over and spend some time in the house. She laughed at the idea someone would actually want to experience what is scaring the heck out of her. I'll keep you guys up to date with any new information.
Yeah, orb photos are VERY problematic. We've been working with Dr. Charles Leitzeau of the University of Michigan and came up with multiple criteria that has never been met... the easiest way to put the criteria is...
a: An orb that is obscured by another object. The orb must be highly opaque and not of the same colour as the item "obscuring" it.
So far... none.
b: Using a stereo camera, capture an orb in both frames of equal light intensity and structure.
So far... zero.
Dr. Chucky has already (after apparently thousands of attempts) pooped on orb photos... to be honest, we did a while back.

Also (plug, plug, plug...) if you're interested in reading up on the investigator side of things, PLEASE have a read of the book I wrote (it's free and online) at...
http://www.torontoghosts.org/course/coursebook.pdf
In fact, PLEASE read through it... it might shed some light into what the "ghost hunters" will be (or should be) doing. :)
Keep me up to date and MANY thanks!
Matthew, thanks for the link. Look forward to the reading. As soon as I know more I'll update here.
