What a Great picture. What a wonderful hike. What a wonderful day that must've been. What a wonderful memory.

TIGHT HUGS!!!

hmmm, if this was a solo hike, were you just a bit afraid of that bear that took the picture?

Well, my goal was to hike a 20 mile loop. However, about nine miles into the hike I came to the pass, which was still covered in snow and not safe to climb without some skill and an ice axe. Keep in mind, this was July. So, after nine miles I had to turn around and go back and descend the 4,000 feet I'd just climbed. Going down is harder on the legs and knees and tendons than going up. About mile 15 I thought I'd die or my legs would catch fire. :-D

Still, a day I'll never forget. I got back to my hotel at 10pm, having left at 2am to get to the park to take that first picture in the right light. I set my alarm, got two hours of sleep and then got up and did it again at another park about three hours in the opposite direction and then I did it again on the morning I had to fly out, which is to say, on two hours sleep, I drove through the night so I could have two more hours in the park before having to turn around and drive two plus hours back to catch my flight. Four unbelievable days. :-)

:-D @ the bear comment above.

The rolo smile, the three of you and C (night, wedding, Chatta-however-one-spells-that-nooga)and this one completes the Top 5.:) But it is a little like trying to pick 5 favourite chapters. In any case, most wonderful picture to see, enhanced as it is coming after the memories and sentiments you have shared about the trip in comments. Seeing this picture, I was reminded of how you described the sounds of the stream outside your offices with the thought that it must have been just lovely, peaceful and melodic.

Really love this picture. :-)
