Song of the Week--Time by The Greencards

Time, by the bluegrass trio tha Greencards. Beautiful song. They have a sound similar to Nickel Creek and are worthy of our first selection for Song of the Week.

Album Description

When two of the most towering figures in popular music invite you out on tour, you must be doing something right. What The Greencards are doing right is making great music. That’s why Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson asked the band to perform on their national tour starting May 25.

One listen to the band’s upcoming sophomore album, Weather & Water, and it’s easy to hear why these musical giants are turning to The Greencards for tour support. The disc, which releases June 28 on Dualtone, is a modern acoustic masterpiece. The band produced the album and called on in-demand engineer Gary Paczosa (Alison Krauss, Nickel Creek, Dolly Parton) to engineer it.

They also wrote nearly every song on it. The highlight of the album may well be the band’s own "Time." This standout track mixes dreamy harmonies and a languid melody into a perfect rumination on the past. It’s alluring and addictive—a hallmark of The Greencards’ distinctive global brand of acoustic music.

For the uninitiated, one of the hottest bands in America is comprised of two Australians—mandolin player Kym Warner and bass player Carol Young—and a fiddle-playing Brit named Eamon McLoughlin.

Taking the Gloves Off.

Savannah wants to know why you felt you could put off joining our team for another day. She doesn't have cancer today, but the research we are doing right now may mean life or death for her in 20 years. Are you prepared to tell her what was so important today that you put off making a difference? I am asking you, are you prepared to face this young lady in 20 years and explain to her in the hospital, with a drip, what was so damn important today that you didn't have 5 minutes to install this little screensaver like device?

Oh, and I've heard every excuse under the sun and I'm here to tell you my friend, every one of them is pure bullcrap. Security concerns--total complete BS. Performance issues--absolute BS. There's some catch (pop-ups, emails, etc)--doesn't exist, nada, nothing, zip. Will wear out my computer--give me a fricken break--I've got more than 3 years of cpu time running this device 24/7 on a laptop--you can try better than that. This will just make the big drug companies richer--sorry, all patents from this research stay with Oxford.

I'm not asking you for money. I'm not asking you to volunteer your time. 5 minutes to install a device and that's it. There is nothing more for you to do, ever again other than just let the dang thing run in the background. Now, I ask you again. Are you prepared to face this little girl?

We currently rank #569 (World rankings--42,000+ teams) and are moving up a few spots everyday. Screensaver Lifesaver

Screensaver lifesaver

Anyone, anywhere with access to a personal computer, could help find a cure for cancer by giving 'screensaver time' from their computers to the world's largest ever computational project, which will screen 3.5 billion molecules for cancer-fighting potential.

The project is being carried out by Oxford University's Centre for Computational Drug Discovery - a unique 'virtual centre' funded by the National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR), which is based in the Department of Chemistry and linked with international research groups via the worldwide web - in collaboration with United Devices, a US-based distributed computing technology company, and Intel, who are sponsoring the project.

How It Works

To join the effort to find a treatment for cancer and other devastating diseases, all you need is a PC and Internet access. Virtually any desktop or laptop PC can take part in finding a cure.

Installation Steps

1. Download the file.
2. Run the file you downloaded and follow the installation instructions.
3. Click on step two in my banner and join Team Andrax.

The program is approximately 2MB in size — only slightly larger than a floppy disk. When you run the program, it will automatically guide you through an installation process.

As the program runs, it uses your computer to begin processing a small packet of data. Once processing is complete (about a day later), the program sends the results back to a server and requests a new packet of data. If you aren't online when the processing is done, your computer will wait to send and receive data packets until the next time you're connected to the Internet.

The research program operates in the background, so you shouldn't notice it's running during computer use. It's designed to run only when computing resources are unused. As soon as you run an application that needs computing power, the research program will back down, and your computing performance will not be noticeably impacted.

The Survivor Movie: Why We Joined this Fight.

Roger & Kathy Cawthon, diagnosed with cancer within six weeks of each other, and following more than a year of aggressive cancer treatments, this dynamic husband-and-wife team celebrated their survival by completing the grueling 26.2-mile Marine Corps Marathon. The life-altering series of experiences is the platform from which they launched The Cancer Crusade.
