Voyage de Découverte

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeing new landscapes but in having new eyes.

  1. More peacocky colours, very pretty and I always like a good 'change perception quote' :-)

  3. Up next: Russian society girl. But you may have to wait til tomorrow. This one will throw you off the "peacock" track. Dang, at least you don't see alien pods in everything I do like Jack. Just wait, til Jack shows up. There will be pods everywhere! LMAO

    Just funning ya. :-)

  4. I'd like to challenge those who would like to be challenged to please tell me what this quote means to you. If so inclined, please share.

  5. Now where can you find beauty equal to the colours of a peacock feather, not very many places at least, so for you to be able to create them makes you a creator of beauty!
    Morning Tracey :-)
Look forward to the Russian society girl, intrigued to see.

Not feeling terribly 'talkative' this morning, but with regards to the quote (this morning) it means to me that it doesn't matter where you are or where you go, what you see and perceive is all about what is in your heart and mind.

  6. A, I feel the same way tonight. Thanks for sharing.

Russian society girl will be quite different than anything else I've done. It's be a nice change of pace. I have no idea what quote I want to use, so until my brain returns, our little ruskie is gonna have to stay on ice.

If you got any russian society girl kinda quotes, send them my way. :-)

  7. ok I'll bite, its seeing the beauty in everyday life, seeing the fun in the mundane, looking at things you see all the time and seeing a newness, its an extraordinary ordinary life (did I actually just work that into a sentence :0)

  8. Have either of you read anything by Toni Packer?

  9. I haven't....good?

  10. I like this one. It's my second favorite after the red one you did a few days back. Makes me think of new horizons--and looks like how I feel when I think about everything I want to learn about before I die.

  11. Trace, yes, she is very good. If you read her, then you will know how I see this question.

  12. k, are you feeling any better today? Thanks for your kind sweet words. This one is the most colorful one I've done, and when you enlarge it, the level of detail is amazing. I could stare at it for hours.

What drew me to this image is the right side where it appears there are little jewels embedded in the green sand. As soon as I saw those little shell like jewels I was immeadiately transported back to St George Island and my walks on the beach in August. This is the beach for me, full of wonder and mystery, and peace backlit by joy. :-)

  13. Toni Packer, no, I haven't. Will do.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for quotes :-)

  14. Wow, T, thanks for the visual. That's a really nice thought. I am feeling okay today--not much better, but not much worse. Stayed home, my mom gave me something to make me sleep all day. It was bliss. Thank you for asking, by the way. I think I'll get back to bed now. I hope to see you tomorrow!

A, I tried to leave comments on your new posts, but it wouldn't let me. :( Just wanted you to know, I was checking up on you.

Love to all, good night, sleep tight, and I'll see you again soon. :o)

  19. i guess it has to do with transformation, perhaps. having new eyes, or seeing with new eyes seems to indicate in some way, the shedding of older pre-conceived notions, thought forms, belief systems
that no longer serve us...and i suppose the voyage of discovery seems to point more to an inner discovery, discovery of the self, which Proust says is not about seeing things external to oneself, but rather from within, perhaps with a newly transformed perception.

or, for all we know, it was just a good pickup line...heck, maybe he just wanted to say something impressive to some chick in a bar....(in which case, he would have had me at hello...) but i digress....

  20. ok so I'm not really the person to tell to read stuff at 11:30 at night,I am way to inquisitive, do you use her methods in your listening workshop?

I need to read more before I can really say more, but for now, I have to get some sleep, since 6 comes early. What I have read so far is very intriguing.

Trée, have a good rest of the night, (morning?)

  21. There are so many dimensions to this, so many layers that it's hard to know where to begin.
True to your words (the quote) you have taken us on a journey here, or at least given us the opportunity to go on one should we choose to.

  22. Melly, thanks for recognizing that this image and this quote is not just standard platitude eye candy, quote of the day material. We could easily have a week long seminar built just around this one single quote.

If one of my images or quotes can take someone below the normal surface chatter of the ever changing sea of our waking lives to a much deeper and serene place below the waves and storms, then that makes me very happy. As Socrates said: "The unexamined life is not worth living."

Can you see with new eyes? Sounds simple (and that's the danger), but only one out of ten thousand, perhaps, can do it. One day, I would like to be counted as that one. Not there yet, but each day I try to take just one more step a little closer. :-)

That reminds me. Put steel toed shoes on shopping list. LMAO

  23. Trace, I use some of her concepts in parts of my Listening Workshop. I like the way she describes filters and how they operate and color our vision.

  24. Lisa, we are very close on how we both see this quote. Now about that coffee . . . :-)

  25. long time no see...

  26. Hey Linny {waves from Tennessee--can you see me?} :-)

  27. i have this strange feeling
    that "seeing with new eyes"
is not something one may place
on their shopping list or wish list.
i believe it is something that evolves
    over time
    without any planning
    or thought in that direction,
    simply from
    seeing with new eyes...

    this lusting after spiritual ideals
even tho we all seem to want it,
reminds me of a kind of
    spiritual materialism,
and the very wanting of it
    makes it move
that much further away from our grasp.
so maybe we need to unclench our fists
    and just let them be...
    it really is that simple.

  28. Lisa, yes, yes, yes, and more yeeeeessss. "To be" or "to do"--creates so much confusion, non? Maybe that's why one of my favorite songs is "Let it Be" by The Beatles. :-)

The steel toed boots are just to protect me every time I stub my toe attempting to walk the path. :-)

And you're right, they're not sold in stores. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  29. you dont need protection on the Path, funny Tree!
just stop walking into the parts that hurt you
    over and over again...
    there! feels better already! (wink)

  30. Looks like a peacock. One with the most colorful feathers. I really like it.

  31. Another vote for peacock I see. Maybe I'm the one that needs new eyes--lol. As always Jack, I appreciate your kind words.
