433. Hand in Hand

Zoe talked. Von listened. Hours became as seconds. No detail was trivial. No utterance without value. Then she said what she said that for Von was more than his blurry eyes could contain.

Zoe: I once asked him how he managed, managed to remain so bright and positive in the real likelihood we would never find you. You know what he said?

Von: (Shook his head)

Zoe: He put his hands on my shoulders, and with eyes as big and clear as mountain lakes, said: Where there is love, there is my father. So everyday, I look for love and everyday my father and I walk hand in hand.

  1. Soundtrack for this chapter: Amos Lee's Arms of a Woman

    "Arms Of A Woman"

I am at ease in the arms of a woman.
    Although now,
most of my days i spend alone.
    A thousand miles,
from the place i was born.
    But when she wakes me,
    she takes me back home.

    Now, most days,
    i spend like a child.
Who's afraid of ghosts in my mind.
I know, there aint nothing out there.
I'm still afraid to turn on the lights.

I am at ease in the arms of a woman.
    Although now,
most of my days a i spend alone.
    A thousand miles,
    the place i was born.
    When she wakes me,
    she takes me back home.

    A thousand miles,
    the place i was born.
    When she wakes me,
    she takes me back home.

I am at ease in the arms of a woman.
    Although now,
most of my days i spend alone.
    A thousand miles,
from the place i was born.
    When she wakes me,
    she takes me..
    Ya, when she wakes me,
    she takes me back home.
    When she wakes me,
    she takes me back home.

  2. Thanks for making it clear. Your blog happened to be in blogs of note and decided to check it out. If I knew the plot and what the story was about it would make understanding the prose better. I find book nowaday tend to cliched and reuse the same ideas. Yours is different because it used many media combined sound and images they all are very nice. Wouldn't it be nice to create your own myths.

  3. Chimerastone, I think creating one's own myth system would be a fascinating exercise. The thought has crossed my mind for this story to do so, but the task, at the moment is a little larger than my shoulders. Perhaps in time. Thanks for the return visit. :-)

  4. Lovely sentiments :)

"No detail was trivial." So true when you are speaking of someone you have lost.

  5. Miladysa, I tried to put myself in Von's shoes and to think what could Zoe say that would bring him comfort and be true to who we know Ceru to have been. Not sure I want to do that again. Gut wrenching, especially when imagined while listening to the soundtrack. As always, your engaged comments are very much appreciated. :-)

  8. I wish there were more hours in a day. I still haven't managed to read previous posts to get a better understanding of the story. I'm dying to do so. We've got a long weekend coming up with Australia Day so I'll be able to catch up on "what happened previously..."

  9. Groover, no worries. The story is 25 months old and not going anywhere. Best place to start is with the Who's Who link under Story Stuff on my sidebar. And by all means, if you have questions, please ask. I'll answer. :-)

  10. I hope your stout shoulder is big enough for two.

    Actually, you HAVE two...

so, I think we'll be alright.

So completely touching, Mr. Tree, in the sense that it touched me everywhere.

I feel the sentiment in every single cell right now.

It's really a powerful feeling that you create in me this moment.

I know it sounds like I'm being dirty, and usually I am...

    ...but right now, I'm not.

You've really managed to move me in an instance where I've really needed it, and

    I thank you.

  11. Strumper, that's about the nicest thing anyone has said to me in quiet some time. I'm touched likewise with the sincerity of your comment. Thank you. :-)

  12. If someone were to ask why, what makes this story special, what is it about it that is so captivating, this chapter would explain. The page blurring, hand to my heart, in a word this chapter was exquisite.

  13. My Dear Sweetest One, you have me blushing now. :-)

Strumper, hurry with those gloves! :-D

  17. Tae, just keep writing and don't let the critics get you down. Write because you love it. Write what pleases you. And if you get knocked down seven times, get up eight. :-)

  19. I'm with Chimerastone. Saw this in blogs of note, and was totally lost at first. Neat images, though, and nice blog layout.

  20. I like this line: Where there is love, there is my father. It made me think. Thanks for that.

  22. That is one of the sweetest chapter you wrote & that is one of the most wonderful thought ever expressed by Von's son!

Your Blog always make me think! I have a lot to catch on ! :D

  23. Stuck, comments like yours make my day. Thank you.

  24. Thanks GP. If the story were a book, it would currently be somewhere between 400 to 500 pages long, depending on type used. Imagine the current post as the last few paragraphs of that book. I completely understand the challenge of a new reader stopping by and grasping who is who and what is what. If you look on my sidebar, you'll see a link under Story Stuff for "Who's Who." This is the best place to start for a quick summation of the story and the main characters. And if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask. Thanks for stopping by. :-)

  25. Kate, you are very welcome. As for nervousness, I think all writers have a certain fear and doubt as to the worth of their prose. Really only one thing to do, keep writing. :-)

  26. Thank you Mona. So nice to see you stopping by again. I've missed your wonderfully insightful and engaged comments. Hope and trust all is well in your world. Take care. :-)
