  2. Y, wait till you see her red hair! I'm doing well sweetie but probably not quite as well as you are about now. I expect much inspiration from your travels. :-D

Thanks for those kind and wonderful words. She does have compassionate and intelligent eyes, don't you think? :-)

  3. Hey beautiful. Happy Thursday.

So sweet Mairi looks :-) What I love about the sketches you have done is that they all draw one to the eyes, very nicely done!! Is there anything you cannot do, I wonder...

  4. Happy Thursday to you too Sunshine. Mairi reminds me of you, sweet, intelligent and eyes to die for. :-)

I don't have words to tell you how much I've missed you. Let me know how your dad is doing. Hugs and kisses my sweetest.

  5. Two nights ago, I would have given anything to have been able to come online and talk :-) Lots going on here, nothing I can't handle though.

Re: my father has had a couple of bits of bad news, but nothing too serious. At present his op is scheduled for the 4th, if he gets the final go-ahead, there is a blockage in the veins in his neck that could cause them to cancel (deem it too risky), but my feeling on it is that he will go for the op. He's been rather quiet these last two days, but generally he is in good spirits and that's the most important thing :-)

Missing you like you wouldn't believe!
    Hope all's well your side.
    Talk to you soon, xo

  6. Sunshine, I'm keeping your dad in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sure just having you around is a huge lift in his morale, not to mention all the work you are getting done in the house. Treasure this time like no tomorrow. Life doesn't give any of us any promises, but I reckon you already now all this so I'll get off my soapbox. :-)

Life is good here. Been back on my bike and it feels good to be riding again on a consistent basis. Take care and check in when you can. :-)

  7. I like those pensive eyes!

  8. Chicky, I don't know how I did it, but those are "dreamy fall at your feet let your tears rain down upon me" kinda eyes. I think I'm starting to like Mairi. :-D

  9. Hey You! I'm glad you're back on the bike!

Great sketch! Did you do it with indian ink or with a software/comp application?

Love her hair. It's that hair that does it for me! She looks like a rebel, a sweet one! :-)

    Happy Friday!

  10. Leigh, I got up early to ride before the heat today and I made the mistake of turning on the Tour. Holy fricken Cow, Floyd rode himself into the history books today. In-f*ing-credible performance! So, I rode in the 100 degree heat and I thought of Floyd and everything was just fine. :-)

I did this sketch on the computer using Painter IX.5 with my Wacom tablet. Thank Janus for layers and digital erasing--LOL. When I first saw the model I used for this image the eyes and the hair caught my eye. I like the pixieishness of the look. She is a woman of imagination and I'll leave it at that. :-)

Happy Friday to you too Leigh. :-)

  11. Ah, The tour! Amazing stuff :-)

You're brave riding your bikein those temperatures, although ours here have been the same, both countries are slap bang in the middle of a heat wave. Keep your fingers crossed for me on Sunday - I've got a long trek ahead 53 miles in total - but it should be WAY cool!

Cycling rocks! (That's how I first found your blog, remember?) :-)

I really do like that sketch! You could sell your stuff so easily.
That's an amazing piece of artwork - simply amazing that you composed it on-screen!

    I'll be back soon :-)

  12. Great eyes! You are a man of many skills!

  13. Oliviah, you are too kind. I did put more work into Mairi than Yul or Kyra. A good model can be quite inspiring. :-)

Was your doctor able to get that appointment moved up for you?

  14. Leigh, growing up in Louisiana I'm used to the heat. Of course, as you know, on the bike you create your own breeze, which is a good thing in the summer and a not so good thing in the winter. :-)

The nice thing about riding in the summer is sweating. I know it sounds funny, but I love to sweat on the bike. Oh, and unzipping the jersey feels good too--on or off the bike. :-D

As always, thanks Leigh for your kind words. Sounds like you have a wonderful ride coming up. :-)

  15. Nice sketch :D
I'm back btw...sorta...as long as the broadband is back anyways ;)
    Hope you're doing okiday :D

    ReplyDelete
  16. Christa, good to see you back. I'll keep my fingers crossed on that broadband for yer. :-)

Thanks for the kind words. I have no training or experience in drawing. Photoshop and Painter make it easy to erase and erase and erase again. This was actually version 6 of Mairi. If I posted the first five, especially number one, you would have a good laugh. :-)

    Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

  17. She's HOT! Very lovely, bbb!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hey bbb, yes I do think Mairi is HAWT! Happy Friday to you sweet thang and thanks for the sweet words. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Please forgive me, darling, for I meant to use "hawt" rather than "hot". :)

  20. For you bbb, no worries. :-)

  21. T: Actually, I must admit I love riding a bike during the summer months. Nothing like working up a good sweat!

When I visited Florida a couple of weeks ago I went riding on a bike and it was SO AWESOME! Wow, what an experience. The road surface was so smooth, I had an expert guide with me, AND it worked up a sweat. Then it happened - RAIN. Amazing stuff that rain heheh.

I just have to go back and do it all over again.

I hope you got my email with my original story attached. If not, I'm sorry :-(

About the GPS, GO FOR IT! The Edge totally rocks - you'll love it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Leigh, I did get your email. Thanks for taking the time to send that to me. As for riding, you need to come to Tennessee and ride the hills with me. Make sure you've got your climbing legs. :-)

My new bike should be ready anytime now. I've been waiting 28 months for it. It's a custom steel Sachs. I like my Polar, but with most things, I'm ready for something different and those Garmins look really sexy. :-D

Rode today about an hour and twenty minutes in 98 degree heat and direct sun. Felt great to sweat and pull some water from my bottle over my head ala Floyd--LMAO. However, right now I'm reminded just how much heat the body retains. Need someone to warm you up? :-)

    ReplyDelete
  23. *snort* It's so hot here I think I'll be doing that things with the water bottle over my head - it works so well. I usually do it over my arms too and when you feel the breeze as you cycle and you're all wet like that - the heat doesn't matter.

Warm me up? heheh. This country is as hot as yours :-)

Pics of your bike when you get it? What colour is it?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I get to choose the colors I want. Right now I'm leaning toward a candy apple red and white combo. Joe Bell does the custom painting to go with Richie's custom frame. If you get a chance, check out Richard Sachs website to get a look at his work. Quite the builder he is.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Great sketch, no drawing for me. Hah. Candy Apple Red, Man after my own heart there. If I didn't have to watch out for the long arm of the Law, that's what color my car would be.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks DJB. Not sure I could sketch without photoshop and painter. The ability to erase and work in layers makes all the difference in the world.

The hardest thing in the world was picking out a color for this bike. I had to beotch slap down the perfectionist in me several times. :-D

  27. Hiya Trée, just dropping in to say hello. I have to catch up with my bloggin'. Have a wonderful weekend :-D

  28. Hi Deb. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you and Wontar have a wonderful weekend. :-)

  29. trée, no word on that doctor yet. I was hoping to hear something by now. 'Cause it's a long, long wait for a January appt.

Who was your model for sketching Mairi?

    Hugs and smooches,

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oliviah, thanks for the update on the appointment. Hang in there. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

The model for Mairi, believe it or not, came from a hair and beauty magazine. I was in the bookstore and the cover model caught my eye. Inside were pictures of hundreds of different hairstyles and as I flipped through, I found my Mairi. She was not a professional model, just an average woman they did a makeover on--kinda a before and after thing. So, I paid $7 to buy a magazine for one picture. Anything for the story. :-D

    ReplyDelete
  31. How neat! And now her image has been created again, in your sketch and in this very fascinating character of Mairi. I can't wait to see her character unfold.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Well, if I can get C off my computer we might see the story move forward again. :-D

It's double XP in City of Villians this weekend. What could be more important than that? :-)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Quite the looker, ain't she?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Jack, I see we have similar taste. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Tree, you are really coming along with the sketches. Nice work.
Glad to read that you're biking again. There's the exercise I want. Too dangerous in this city though.

Love and hugs and I hope things are good in your neck of the woods.

    ReplyDelete
  36. When do we get to see her with her red hair? She is quite the little enigma, isn't she?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oliviah, I did a really quick and dirty colorization over at Trebuchet. I have to warn you, I didn't spend very much time on it, but you do get to see Mairi in Red. :-)

As soon as I can get some time on "my" computer I think we will learn a little more about Mairi. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Aggie, thanks for the kind words. Its not hard to improve when you start at the bottom. If I can devote more time to learning how to draw and then drawing I hope to continue to improve. I'm starting to get comfortable with the tablet and finding a few brushes that I like.

Got a nice 25 mile ride in today. The goal was to ride easy, but somehow it never works out that way. But it does feel good to sweat. Do you like to sweat my dear sweet sexy woman? :-)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Are you kidding? I think sweat is all I do anymore.

Next drawing lesson...shading. Put all the light on one side and all the dark on the other. It'll come to you real easy. :)
    Good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Mmm, I'd like to see you sweat. Somehow I think you'd do it pretty well. :-D

I've got to play with the brushes a bit more to figure out which ones are best for shading. I think I've been avoiding it. Thanks for the nudge. I like it when you nudge me you know. :-)

  41. Mairi looks very pleasant and sensitive. great sketch dude!

    :) hows u Tre?

    Keshi.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thanks for those kind words Keshi. I'm doing fine. Hope and trust you are too my dear sweet intelligent sexy southern angel.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hey Sweet Pea, having a good day, I hope!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hey You! :-D

I'm doing just fine. No complaints, especially after reading Melly's accounts of life in Northern Israel these last couple of weeks. Rather puts my petty concerns into perspective. Melly's blog is All Kinds of Writing and the link is on my sidebar.

Gonna run over to your place to see if there is an update on your front. Take care my dear Sunshine. Love, hugs and kisses. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Im doing good ta..:)

    Keshi.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Putting that note to the forefront of my mind to pop over to Melly's either in a bit or next time I'm in.
Coffee's in the pot. A happy Tuesday to you, beautiful man, x

    ReplyDelete
  47. Sunshine, thanks for the update. I've got the 4th marked on my calendar. Coffee ready when I wake is always very, very much appreciated. :-D

From the sounds of your update, it appears you and your dad are keeping your spirits high, which I think is a very important thing. The spirit has ways of making the impossible possible.

Loved the bit about M. I can just see her now making that statement and the ensueing smile that came over your face. I imagine you will remember that moment for the rest of your life.

Take care my dear sweetest of the sweet ones.

See, all you have to do is ask. As Aggie says, I'm easy, like a Sunday morning. Sorry, just couldn't resist that last bit. :-)

  53. Awww, you are making me blush now. Do it again. Do it again. (to get the full effect, you have to say "Do it again" outloud real fast--twice) :-D
