465. Smiling Like Bees

leather like snake skin on the floor
sheets like tissue paper on the bed
an exchange of looks
a parting of lips
of lids signaling evening
and hands that say "stay"
of legs that move
and glutes that tighten

and breath as an observer
divorce pouty lips,
glistening in anticipation, wet with invitation
tongues swollen like rivers
and ears alert as tents in the desert
hair swaying in the gentle breeze of imagination
catching light as smiles on a swing
fingers move with metronome calculation
sensitive as hoary frost before the morning sun
and nerves click and clack like western morse
silent communication urgent as pregnant clouds
while leather expands in aromatic saturation
and nary a bee could smile as wide as eyes were smiling

  2. Beautiful in every way. Beautiful like flowers after a summer rain. Beautiful like the first covering of snow. Like the heart that beats within you, that kind of beautiful. (blissful sigh)

A special post in many ways and almost musical.

  5. You're a poet too! I love reading your work Trée. The language you use is truely hypnotic xx

  6. You are very kind Elise. Not sure I'd consider myself a poet, but I do like to work prose with a feel for how it sounds, how it rolls off the tongue. If I told you how this piece was written you'd laugh. Let's just say I was messing around and it kinda spilled out. :-D

  11. Been a while since we have had the great pleasure of a reading. ;-) This post gets more intimate every time that I read it, each sentence a delight onto itself with the gold going to if I were awarding it glistening in anticipation, wet with invitation, really like the direct simplicity of that line and the smoothness. Really, really would love to hear this one read, to hear your voice speak the words and know then if the way I read it, the rise and falls, are as it sounds in your mouth. Spot on yesterday, beautiful in every way, still more so today, and the image is in a word arousing. You da man!

  12. I do love how you go on. :-D Once upon a time we had a 37 minute commentary, as easy to listen to as this, I'm starting to suspect I could listen to you talk about this story forever. :-) Thank you for doing the reading and for the wonderful bonus of commentary, which I tend to be even more pleased to see, same was true this time, and there is just something about the way that you boomerang off into connected chambers of thought coming back to exactly the point where you left off that is decidedly charming. And attention grabbing, something about the way you speak more so than what you speak about that captures the attention of listeners, or at least this listener, really need to stop speaking for everyone. :-D Love to hear about how your chapters come about, how ideas spring forth, from memories, observances, a passage, a song, and in this case from talking about Carver, fascinating is the creative process as you talk about also within this commentary and how the words flow from heart to pen of their own accord.
Once again thank you for doing the reading, if I knew it was that easy, I would have asked more often. ;-) You do them well. I like to hear this one again at the cottage, lying on a sofa as you sit reading in a chair. Very audible blissful sigh at the part that read: and hands that say "stay", beautifully done.

  13. Sweetest, I always feel so frailing pretentious when I do a reading and commentary and I cringe when I listen to them. When I saw your request I thought, easy enough, I can do that, maybe take thirty seconds to read this chapter. I didn't count on more then ten minutes of commentary. :-D

You know, if you enjoyed it, that's all that matters. :-)

  18. It looks like if I touch the computer screen, the electricity will move toward my fingers. I like the new header picture. And I still like the poetry very much as well. Jen

  20. Here bees from blossoms sip the rosy dew

Come barefoot, wander through the grass
    Where morning mists yet rise,
    First expectations now surpass
    Beneath a brightening sky.

    Wisteria spread sweet incense
    Perfume the morning breeze.
    Birdsong upon the air condense
    And shower from the trees.

In sheltered cove sweet bower make
    Of softly woven light
In trembling notes sweet love partake
    Fresh shivers of delight.

For morning rises from the night
    Though memory still holds sway.
And magic thoughts may yet take flight
    To color a new day.
    *grins*

  25. Miladysa, nice to see you checking in. Chapters tend to come from out of the blue and our skies have been grey of late, but you never know when a clearing will happen. ;-)

  26. I won't ask you any questions, I'll just say that I like this:

leather like snake skin on the floor

And I will tell you that I LOVE the charge of the image at the top today.

It's sending all sorts of shocks to all the right places.

    :-D

Leather AND electricity....an excellent combination, Mr. Tree.

  30. New to your page...think I will keep it around. Love fractals...and great stories. Just recently got out of a 4 year relationship. My ex was big into poetry/prose...reading this brings back the "good" memories of our rocky past. Usually not the sensitive type by any means, but it did give me goosebumps hear at work reading it. Great job!
