461. Glyph

The Hood manipulated the rune globe suspended between his nailed fingers. To no one he said, "The frailing bitch will suffer pleasure unknown."

  1. "suffer pleasure unknown"? Ominous. My imagination does nothing here so I will have to rely on your telling of it to fill in that gap. The Hood is a malevolent, nasty being, isn't he.
I'm ready (and hoping) to see who takes him out. Probably no time soon but I'll be glad to (hopefully) see him go.

  2. Jen, this is a reference to the knowledge The Hood gained from Calfuray. I'm smiling in that I see you picking up on The Way of The Story, which is to say, if you get caught up in plot, you are missing the boat. This story moves in 2/3's time, which is to say, slowly. We might find answer to your question in the next chapter or in eight months. Either way, it just don't matter. ;-)

  3. It doesn't have to be tonight, but will you link to Calfuray? I'm not sure what knowledge was gained by the Hood.
As to the way of the story... I understand that a large portion is the conception and written ideas by the author (you, you brilliant wordsmith, you). But it is also the fellowship with the reader that makes it unique, agreed? Is that why it just doesn't matter? This can go on infinitely without a line in the sand THE END. Is that how you perceive it to be? Or is there an 'Ending' in your mind? (picking your brain a little tonight!)

  4. Hey wait...I found it on the side. Sorry, it's late and I function on half brain anyway.

  5. Jen, you are SO right. The fellowship with other bloggers is everything--without that relationship I'd have no need to write since the story is complete and entire in my own mind. All life is relationship or it is nothing. Drink on that for awhile. Nothing stands alone and retains meaning or significance. Relationship is everything.

Read the chapter, recently linked, to the battle between Calfuray and Kyra. In short, the battle took place on another plane, one in which pleasure, a mental masturbation between combatants, took place. Calfuray reveals this contest to The Hood. He laughs for his abilities go much deeper than the assassin Calfuray's did. Calfuray is female, by the way. ;-)

The Story, has already ended. Some of the crew make it to earth, where I stumble upon them, interview them, and, I believe, a movie is being made of their adventures. So, everything we read is what happened, as told, mainly by Kyra, to me. Forget plot. Forget story. Dive into each chapter as if there is nothing else. I write as if that is the case. Join me. Bath in the words. Cloth yourself in the images. :-D

  6. Have I told the Hood lately that I love him?

    Cos I do.

  7. Strump, I think he reads this blog in his cloak, sans underwear. His ears will be popping up like tents in the desert when he hears you coming, round the corner. :-D

  8. Hmmm, I think I might have enjoyed battle with Calfuray. *wide grin*

  9. Wamblings, I think you might have enjoyed it a little too much. Nevertheless, I'd like to see that. Now show me your belly. :-D

  10. awe Sweetie, my belly once housed a 10+ pound baby. Now if you are into road maps and relief maps, you might still find it sexy. Otherwise, better the one in your imagination than the reality.

  11. Wamblings, I like wabi sabi women, if you know what I mean. ;-)

  12. Hey Hood

If you are reading this - tremble - and not in the way you are thinking!

    I don't like him!

  13. Oooooh, hang on. Might need to turn the ceiling fan on. The one in my hand ain't cooling me off fast enough. Did I tell you l love maps? :-D

  14. hahaha, my older sister freaked when I came out to the resort pool (Kuaui) in a string bikini. Silly thing has no sense of the beauty, the sensuality that accompanies the evidences of having lived well.

Saw an old friend the other day and said, "Look how beautiful you are!" and she turned beaming to her daughter and said, "She likes wrinkles." I ask you what wrinkles? She is beautiful in her smile lit mature face.

*steps off soapbox and bares just a little more belly*

  15. I think people are like baseball gloves, much better with a little wear and tear, and usually a little softer around the edges too. A good oiling doesn't hurt either. :-D

And nothing beats a mature smile, one educated in time and softened in experience as if the sun itself was spilling forth from the eyes.

  16. Miladysa, I think The Hood would smile at the reaction. Such is the way of untethered evil.

  17. Being a natural sort of girl, butter is good, olive oil is also a good choice. :P

  18. I love cold-pressed virgin olive oil. Had some this morning. Good for the heart. And I hear it goes well with Rosemary. :-D

  19. mmmmmmmm cold pressed virgin *tingles* olive oil, warmed between the hands... goes very well with Rosemary indeed

  20. Warmed in the hands, which, by the way, has a lustful deep sound, an instrument to the ears and imagination par excellence, when warmed in the correct manner for maximum sonorous effect. I used to have a masseuse who knew exactly how to warm oil. I would have paid just for that sound. :-D

    ReplyDelete
  21. ah yes, warming olive oil correctly is a very sensuous endeavor which can quickly lead to very lusty themes and variations on said themes. Music provided by... http://s58.photobucket.com/albums/g243/cibarius/For%20Cheri/?action=view&current=11-23001.jpg

  22. Where do I purchase tickets to that concert? :-D

Wow! Nice to see a little wood in your hands. ;-)

  23. I did mention I'm an artist? And did you see the sexy scar from my bicycle accident? I'm rather proud of that scar. Still trying to decide what sort of tattoo would go nice with it. Perhaps a winged dragon clinging to it and biting the top.

Wood in my hands. :P The finest pernumbuco and gracious maple.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I did see the scar. I think Yul could give you some ideas on the tat. :-D

Well, I say if you can fondle one kind of wood, you can fondle them all. :-D

  25. LMAO My weekend is drawing to a close. Time to fold up the laptop and be ready to leave when my niece returns to take over care of my mother. But thanks for the ever so entertaining Saturday.

  26. Have fun W. I'll be thinking of you the next time I warm some cold-pressed virgin olive oil between my smooth hands. :-D

  27. I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of The Hood, especially with the hint given recently in regards to manipulation. Two very different sets of powers, I've a feeling you might stretch this one out and so I'm determined not to get too curious but shall instead grab steadfastly onto the belief, true or not, that good wins in the end. Fabulous little snippet of a chapter, a rush.

  28. Expect extended foreplay, just the way The Hood would want it. :-D

  29. That fractal is so luminously beautiful! I love it!

Suffering pleasures unknown...That sounds like Life itself, after they fell from heaven...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Mona, again, you hit the nail on the head. Think of our pleasures and ask yourself whether the attachments we form to those pleasures doesn't bring more suffering than all the rest. There is great suffering in pleasure and The Hood seeks to torture Kyra by this means. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Stunning image, Tree! It takes me places where I can dream.

Suffering pleasure? Now I will dream...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Cléa, is there room for two in that dream? I have some ideas and I think my mind would dance well with yours. Just a hunch. :-D

  33. I think he reads this blog in his cloak, sans underwear. ROFL
