Question Man, it is an Arc'teryx vessel exploding in space under the direct attack of two Vollmonds (Kulmyk long-range interceptors). Kyra and crew were being held captive on board this vessel when the attack occurred.
Thanks Jenni. I almost added one more line about how this was the last thing Mairi saw before her pod hit the atmosphere but thought the better of it. I did like the idea that this reflection might have been caught in Mairi's eyes just after it was seen in Kyra's. Would have been a nice cut-away to end the episode until next season. :-D
Because I know the twist it seems obvious in my mind and I'm tempted to tell you what it is--oh what the hell, we all know the crew survives. Spoiler below. Stop reading if you don't want to know what happenes next.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Okay, Von was unable to get the bay doors open. Bravo-Four-Zero looked like it would be the crew's tomb as the Vollmond's came in for their final attack run. Somehow, because I'm writing the story of course--LMAO, somehow, the final explosion caused just the right break in the hull that allowed B-4-0 to escape pretty much intact. The very thing that should have killed them actually sets them free. So there you have it. :-)
Terry, that is a great description of this image. Wish I had thought of it first. :-D Lots of little tidbits in the comments all through this story, but then you already knew that; and that doesn't even count what happens on Trebuchet. :-)
Same here. Today has been less than graceful at work.
